One of mine had a basketball sized hard plastic ball with another ball inside. The larger ball had holes in it like a large Wiffle Ball
The dog could grab the larger ball and toss it all over the yard.
Between his tossing it over the 6ft privacy fence around my back yard and him banging it around the patio and off the side of the house in the middle of the night I traded it off for a large kong.
All is good now!
WOW, should have signed him up for the baseball league!
Does he not toss the kong? Mine loves tossing the kongs hard chews, the heavy things seemed to be the most interesting toss.

I pretty much agree with this:
"My thoughts exactly. What our dog tosses, where she tosses it, and when she tosses is pretty much up to us as her handlers. We control the play and engagement indoors and what toys to use. When she's so busy playing with us, she doesn't have the time or inclination to toss toys out of boredom."
When the dog does something undesirable, it's our job to train the dog to do something desirable instead. That's my take on Max von Stephanitz's famous words on training, which end with "let the trainer ask "Where am I at fault?' "
JMO!
(I also get it if we pretty much don't mind and are willing to live with the consequences.)

In my particular case, the absolute glee that Chance displays at having an assortment of toys available, instead of the 'um, I don't know, a tennis ball?' that his previous owner answered was his favorite, is worth a few messes to me We are, of course, still always working on engagement. But sometimes he's just happy to see a toy. And I forget to put the water dish up

I admit that flinging a water-soaked toy pretty much made me LOL.

The title "Toy tosser troubles" threw me off. I thought you were complaining because the dog almost broke the tv. Carry On.
My fingers are crossed that you don't end up with another tosser...

I don't allow toys in the house.
Only exception...is young pups in the kitchen or extreme Kongs stuffed or empty IN CRATES...
Problem solved.
To which I add: amen-Amen-AMEN Whose sig tag says, "My house, MY rules" (???)

I was making light convo. Thought somebody might chat about their tosser, remember some good memories about a dog that liked to toss around a toy.
Im not correcting my 13+ weim, Nor crating her all the time I give her a chew or toy. (She throws even water bowls. Should I look into strict crating while drinking as well?)
Im happy shes alive and is capable of happily tossing toys.
Lots of dogs her age are "lost in mind", cant walk, and have absolutely no desire to chew or play.
And when crated, she does not chew her chew. But stares until shes released from crate. In general, crates will never be a comfortable place for my dog. Regardless of work and desensitizing.
As for next dog. I will not be rescuing another because its going to be pts because it mauls people, attacks shiny things, and has health issues.
So even though I am hoping my next dog (puppy) wont be a tosser by nature. If anything arises I am sure we could work it out.
I thought I could make some nice light laugh chat. :P

I have had a corso of a breeders i worked at, that used to carry his entire water bucket over to me and dump it at my feet.
I had to fill his water bowl up at least 3 times during my shift.
He also liked to stick his tennis balls in their, and toss them all soaking wet!

My dog doesn't even have a door on her crate. She crates herself at her own choosing. She doesn't not toss because I correct her for tossing. I don't force my dog to behave.
When she starts tossing, that's an indication to me to get off my fat ass and take her out for some exercise. She's happy because she knows I am a sucker who will take her out for a game of tug when I sense her getting bored.
That's okay. Even though you at first implied it was a problem, I can see you are fine with the arrangement, even if you did say that you hope your next dog doesn't turn out the same way. I'm wagering it will, but we can always just hope.
BTW, sounds like the corso was trying to get your attention.
