I only mentioned the negatives because sometimes the " OMG, what can we DO " drives an action plan which does not provide real benefit. Pets have no equivalent of DNR, the Do Not Resuscitate note many of us older folks have in our wills.
I've been horrified at some of the stories I've read on the Forum, treatment, expensive and painful, going way beyond where it should go in my view.
My thoughts are with you-- with luck, this may end up being no big deal, just a bump in the road.
Oh Lori, I am so heart sorry to read this, I will be thinking off you and your girly, cancer is a disgusting disease, god knows why we are yet to find a more efficient way of treating it without wrecking the body in the process.

So well said, Betty ... My entire focus is always, "I will NOT allow this Dog to suffer, period." -- Euthanasia, when needed, is a MERCIFUL blessing & our Last Gift to the faithful companion for whom we are responsible.
Even mentioning euthanasia seems very premature here.
Lori: I have been down the canine cancer road several times over the years (lymphoma, osteosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma) and I know how stressful this is. However, my understanding is that spindle cell tumors - especially in older dogs - are usually slow-growing and rarely metastasize.
It sounds like you caught it early, too. I send you and Kasey good thoughts and best wishes. Keep us posted.
Wishing you the best, an encapsulated mass, an easy dissection, a quick recovery.
Not exactly something you would read on a Hallmark card but I can't think of a better outcome. I'll go for Betty's good wishes anytime and add my own as well.
