don't know the point here, maybe that it is all individual based and any rule of thumb is BS.
That was already known. Still can't figure out your motivation for this "experiment".
Feeding guidelines are useful when you have a new dog/puppy and aren't sure how much they need and then you almost always have to adjust from there. It's just a starting point.
Peter....someday you may realize that much if the 'stuff' that you continue to spout does not put you in the most favorable light here. You seem to mostly try to provoke controversy, conflict & annoyance, instead of fruitful discussion.
BTW, since you asked.....My raw fed w/l GSDs are well exercised, healthy, fit, trim & well muscled with tons of drive & energy...including my 11 year old female with an old back injury.
Healthy, fit & trim dogs ARE THE NORM HERE.
Your dogs are not exceptional in any way in that regard here.
Peter, the problem is that it's never an actual discussion with you. You state a belief and then refuse to admit that sometimes you are flat out wrong. When you get pushed on it you try to say that you just do things differently. "Different strokes" is not always the case. People have had to post specifically telling someone to NOT do what you have just suggested because it's flat out wrong. The most recent example being that you told someone to leave a puppy loose in a bedroom. That's bad dangerous advice that could result in the death of a dog.
I swear every post of yours I pay attention to, your claiming your dog's are some how better than others.
My dog, and the ones I train especially the hounds are run 75 miles and up a week.Through what I'm positive is tougher terrain than you can find in your neck of the woods. Now that my dog is done growing he is 44 pounds and eats 3500 calories a day in the winter. I'm sure other dogs and their owners get much more exercise than mine as well.
Ease up on the attempts at bragging bud. We are all here to talk about our dogs. Not to try one upping each other. Happy new years Peter and the rest of leerburg!
Yes, I do feel my current dogs and previous ones I've owned have been pretty darn special, even the best dogs in the world, and I make an effort every day to treat them as such.
I've spent a lot of time over the years determining what optimal nutrition is for each dog to keep them at their individual best weight and body condition. I strive to keep up with any changes in dietary needs that might come along due to age, season of year, illnesses, et cetera, and adjust meals accordingly to maintain their best condition.
I cannot fathom subjecting my dogs to a "little dietary experiment," as you describe it, just to see if any of them will gain or lose a lot of weight.
