could be good , could be not so good . . . dogs are survivors and unless something tragic has happened to the dog , there is a good chance he is still out there in someone elses' care or putting on the miles and collecting stories .
unfortunately , in my hometown of whistler , disappearances of cats and dogs are most often the result of predation by animals further up the food chain . . . sure hope that isn't the case here .
After hearing of many dogs gone missing during the last month, I wonder if anybody has experience with those GPS trackers from tagg for example.
They cost about $100 and then $8 a month, need to be charged once a week, but they send text message, when the dog is leaving the home area, and it should be only minutes to be able to locate the dog, and finding the dog should only be a matter of hours.
I have to assume, that for example a police dog is expensive enough as it is, and as a police or service dog, there is always a higher possibility for the dog to get in situations, where it gets separated from the handler.
Then again, how much is your dog worth the money. This tag device costs you $120 a year, and if the dog lives 10 years, it would be $1200 in ten years. A vet bill could be that much.
I would like to think this is a good investment.
I for myself do not have one yet, but I am considering to get one for my dog, (and one for my kid ;-))

I love this idea! Of course my husband already gives me crud for spending too much on my dog. Even a little bit more would cause his eyebrows to raise at me. Hahaha
Thank goodness Aries has never run off and doesn't seem to be inclined to. I would be so heartbroken. My sympathies....
