Actually, what Cathy and I said is very different. If it was what Cathy said, prey needing an outlet, that would be causation, not reaction. However, obsessing on strange noises leads me to believe that your dog's responses are reactionary. IMVHO, I feel very strongly that your problem is impulse control. Regardless of the causation, your dog needs to learn to destress when she has an impulse, and you have to help her with that. One of the main keys for my dog was me learning how to remove stress from her, and/or isolate her from her triggers.
