Antihistamines can help to suppress itching in dogs. It's certainly not a "fix" (hopefully the derm vet will be helpful in finding a cause/solution)---but in the meantime, you might be able to provide some symptom relief.
Benadryl, Chlor-trimeton, Zyrtec are the simple, over-the-counter kinds to try (and there are many more). Your vet (or the derm vet) can give you dosing information over the phone based on your dog's weight for each kind.
It is worth knowing that individual dogs have very individual responses. If one of the antihistamines doesn't work, you should try another (and another) until you find one that works the best. Highly variable response in dogs.
Again, this isn't a solution. Just a short-term answer to perhaps reducing the itching and provide some relief.
