My dogs do not leave my side at the vets. I even go in for x- rays. Only exception was an emergency spay. ....even that was minimal time. That's with 4 w/l GSDs over the last 12 years
I'd ask exactly what "labs" on a healthy 8 month old dog they intended on doing as well. The only one I can think of is fecal floats. I'd say almost anything else is just to fluff up the bill.
reminds me of a particular " seinfeld " episode daniel . . .
and just like jerry went looking for a new mechanic , i'd be looking for a new vet ( before the guy swipes yer dog lol ) .
we have a vet like that in town . whistler is a place where some people have a lot of money to spend on their dogs . they loved us CARDA handlers because we all have insurance , but the gravy train ended the day my buddy brought in his golden retriever for a simple suture job . they presented him with a bill for $1200 before the dog had even left the reception area .
( you can see the repair job done by one of our mountain docs at SARdoglife , my youtube channel )
When I read this sort of thing, I am just sick at heart, sick of what has happened to at least part of the profession I so loved.
Take your business elsewhere. Maybe find a large animal vet in the area, someone not trying to pay for a CT scan unit on the backs of unnecessary lab work on healthy pups.
