Great Candi! Apart from getting advices about dog training I also learn some Internet Slang. Rotflamao!
But back to the topic dogs. Maybe Bob's peeing in the yard was nothing but marking his territory. This we wimmins simply have to understand.

Ha-ha, seriously, and his male dogs would definitely "cover" it !!!
While my female is peeing, my male would not even Wait till she's Done, but would mark her whole rear end while she was "indisposed" if I let him do so (which I do NOT) -- It's a "guy thing", LOL ... Adonis has also been known to SLYLY try this on the feet of People he LOVES

When I still had my JRT Pete he would always rush in to cover the two GSDs even before they finished.
Even after he was neutered he still though he could pee higher, farther and faster then the two GSDs.
That got him in trouble a few times.
That little bassid got more baths then my dogs I took in the show ring.

Rotflamao! And the male dogs would cover it! This we call cooperation. Engagement skill in it's perfection!
Pity I cannot ask Bob for the technique how to achieve this high level, as I lack the equipment. Nevertheless I'd like to know if he taught it by free shaping and if in between he has put it on cue.
What you write about Adonis I didn't know.

You must have very talented dogs, Bob!
! If I were you I'd train them to do this simultaneously up tp highest performance and then show it in the ring.

Absolutely taught with shaping.
The dog goes then it's marked and rewarded. Adding the command comes after your sure the dog understands what it's being rewarded for.
All the dog's I've competed with be it show, obedience, schutzhund, whatever have all be taught to go on command.
I would bet that most here that have competed will say the same thing simply because a dog relieving itself in the competition ring will be disqualified.
I've been dog crazy my whole life. In particular dog behavior.
I think understanding behavior is key to truly understanding dog training.

I meant that perhaps you could create a new dog sport or at least add a new element to the ring sport, when your dogs are so eager to compete with each other peeing higher, longer, aiming preciser etc.
But of course if this means disqualification ~no chance.
I too was dog crazy since I was a litle child, but never was allowed to have one.
Your right, understanding the behaviour is everything or almost. That's why we beginner make so many mistakes. We have not learned to interprete dogs correctly.

Yep, I've been using Potty Commands since the '70s for "Little Busy" and for "Big Busy"
And I've also been Animal Crazy ever since before I could even
talk -- Because I'm an only child, all my siblings were
dogs, birds, rodents, reptiles, fish & horses ... And now I prefer the company of any animal over that of most people, LOL

How sweet and admirable! Reminds me so much on my early wishes.

Now it's time to do something about those early wishes!
As to the command, I was always to macho to say go potty.
Out of habit I still say "go outside" even though my dogs are outside 24/7 now.
I give that command before I take them outside the yard to train in the front or side yard. They are bigger.
Of course when the kids are over with their tiny little dogs then it's "go potty" because they snub their noses at my manly "go outside".
