He's improving. He's walking much more normally. Of course, he's also going a bit stir crazy but I'm going to start some nose work with him tonight and hope that helps. We're going to use the shaping method so it doesn't really require him to move that much.
Have you checked out his back? Kenzi has had some back issues that have manifested in an off gait.
If it continues, I would be strongly consider going to a rehab vet/canine physical therapist. They should be able to provide more specifics for exercises/rest protocol for healing.
Took him in for an exam and they said to give it three more weeks on the crate rest. They also gave me some Rimadyl since Maverick made some unauthorized dashes(on leash!) and was actually holding his leg against his body for a few minutes.
Maverick was so tense/flinchy that they really couldn't examine his shoulder that well but the vet still felt that it's not anything like OCD that would need surgical intervention. At the end of the three weeks if there's no improvement they'll sedate him for a better exam.
Any ideas to keep my boy occupied? He's getting bored with his Kong, wobbler, and bob a lot.
I'll be moving out of my parents house and into a 5th wheel trailer for my new job so at least there's going to be less temptation from the other dogs.
It just seems to take an eternity with these things
Kaiser has been lame for a few weeks, and after the hideous ordeal with the Previcox, I avoided the vet, and have him on Green lipped mussel, and a by last weekend he was on all four legs, and doing a slow trot up the garden, so I thought,'Well that is obviously doing good, plus the enforced rest, excellent!' Monday he was clearly feeling perky, so started larking about with Sugar; He is back to bed rest and looking like Eeeyore again.
