This wee dog has been holding it for three days and still nothing. We take him out to the yard on
the leash and he just sits there looking at us. Often, he won't pee either. Tonight he looked as
though he was going to produce something....and then never did. He also isn't getting much in the
way of exercise.
I'm a bit late to this, and had a quick skim through, but wondered if a good run might loosen things up? One of my old Pointers was bunged up for 3 days, and as an avid poo watcher, it did bother me, I still don't know what caused it, and was starting to look into some natural remedies, but was also hoping he wouldn't need a manual emptying by the vet.
Your poor little chap has to be getting uncomfortable by now, and you must be worried sick. Has the vet thrown any light on the situation?

He finally went after three days. Today he shows no interest. He gets outside on the leash and
then sits there looking at me. Doesn't sniff around and shows no interest in the little pile he made
yesterday. When walking, he sniffs and pees but, in the yard, he just doesn't seem to know what he's
there for and often won't take his eyes off me. Will try a run...thank you.
I have the utmost respect for people that take time and trouble over foster dogs, he is a lucky boy to have someone who is dedicating time and love to his obvious needs.
Tracey, so great to read about all this. I unfortunately missed it until now. - Time flie! I had similar problems with my former stray.
I know it can be hard and it needs a lot of pacience and primarily love. But it is worth all of this. I have a brain damadged (from a hard blow r bows) one who needed about a year to learn a sit. He's ilearned it in between but it is not solid yet. He is learning, yes, but we have to adapt to his pace. Res, reps, reps, this is undoubtedly true. and always try t give him self confidence. this is what although out of my poor experience helped most. God luck to you both!
