I remember reading on here how it helps if the dog that is left behind has a chance to sniff and see the dog that is put down.
That is why I took Kiss with me when I went to put Sasha down. I didn't want him to be wandering the house looking for her.
I didn't realise how much Sasha being sick and the change in his routine was affecting him. We are back to a routine now, he's doing much better. He seems much happier and is certainly is adapting well to being a only dog.

Very good attitude, Candi. I believe, that Kiss might feel like this. Going away, just for a short time and coming back, and this repeatedly will give him his trust again.It will need some time,sure, but he will learn that he can count on you. With little children it is done like that too. Often at first only by going out of sight, into another room or so, but so that you can be heard, your movements, your voice, then come into sight again.
