"The dogs were crazy excited when I first got home, but once they realized that I was injured, they calmed right down. It was awesome to watch. Even Fennec who was absolutely frantic to get to me- she was even yipping. Once I touched her nose, she settled in to lick, lick, lick - but very gently."
I've always said that if you want to find out who misses you the most , your spouse or your dog, just lock both in the trunk of your car.
Come back in a half hour and see which one is happiest to see you when you let them out.
The hip continues to do well. I am down to one crutch in the house, and I drove this morning. Will go to work for half a day this afternoon, and hopefully do a full day tomorrow.
I have a followup appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday - hopefully I will be able to give up the compression shorts and the bandage can come off.
The hip still continues to improve. I can't believe that the surgery was only 3 weeks ago today - I am able to get around short distances without crutches. We had the farrier out for the horses yesterday and I was able to hobble around and lead them without the crutch.
Of course, I still can't get my frickin right sock on my foot.... Paul came home from work this morning to find me completely dressed and ready for work but with a bare right foot. Just can't bend yet to hook that sock over the toes... eventually, they say. Not soon enough, I say...
The dogs are getting back to normal - they are no longer walking gingerly by me - they must feel that I am strong enough to fend for myself now Fennec has resumed barking at me when I take too long to get down the stairs
The doctor has said that I am doing great, and the incision looks awesome. I see him again in 5 weeks and we will discuss the other hip...
That's great that your recovery is coming along so well! Sounds like the dogs definitely agree you're getting better fast. Ya' know, there are contraptions out there that make getting socks on easier for people with various disabilities or handicaps, whether permanent or just temporary, like yours. Just Google "sock aid." Might come in handy for those times when Paul is not there to help.
Great news, Kelly. What an improvement! Your second surgery asyou wrote falls in July, the month of my birthday. So keep optimistic, nothing can go wrong within that month. I'll be thinking about you!!!!
