Jazz peacefully passed. I am burying him myself in our yard. I will be off grid for awhile now, take care eveyone.
He is now running free with Dot and my Emma.
In my old yard I had a number of dogs buried after almost 40 yrs there.
I do a lot of perennial gardening also and each grave had a special plant on it.
When I moved 10 yrs ago those special plants came with me.
Without that I think the move would have been very hard to do.
RIP Jazz!
Bob, have we told you Lately that we LOVE you ??? Well, we DO

When I was a kid, my first GSD Sam - the ultimate love of my life - was buried under an oak tree in our yard. We have since sold the farm, but I know the people who own it, and every time I move, I go and get some acorns to sprout and plant it in my new yard - so that a piece of Sam will always be with me.
My current Sammy Oak Tree has been growing for 20 years and is quite majestic... it was the first tree planted in our dog cemetery and it greets all who enter.
Each dog gets a tree planted at the head of their grave, and they are buried with a St Francis medal - the ones that I have had cremated also get a tree planted and the Medal goes in their urn.

(SNIFF) This is just one more reason why I love dog people so much, Kelly !!!

VERY cool idea! I
I have to say that my Thunder who we lost about a yr ago was cremated.
I didn't think I would ever do that after 20 + personal dogs.
My grandson who was #2 in Thunder's book now has all his medals and ribbons. I still have the ashes and will probably put those in a woodland park grandson and I always walked the dogs.

A close friend does something I hadn't heard of before. She has her dogs cremated, and puts the ashes for each inside a Build-a-Bear.
She has many of these stuffed animals, each with a silver name tag similar to a collar tag, along her mantel and on tops of bookshelves.

They all sound absolutely beautiful. I wish we could plant here. But in the high north we only build greenhouses and either incinerate our pets or do what I do, and dig the permafrost until you get deep enough.
Flood has receded, and the danger is over here. He is laid to rest, and I decorated his grave with as much vegetation as I could. Nothing will touch that boy while I live.
Jim wants to move in the next few years, but I do not think I can function in a big city anymore. We will see what the future holds!
Thank you all for your kind words and stories of past fur babies, I appreciate them all! For some reason I cannot stop checking in on Leerburg.
You're all the best!!

Keep on comin' over to see us here, Becky We'll give you a good "dog fix" every time !!! And you'll always know that we remember your companions who've crossed The Bridge in our hearts too -- After a while you might even hook up with a new (or old) friend on Leerburg that will be the one from whom you get your next dog...
