You know, it's funny, but I love the book (I love the first book best) and the series equally. Usually, to me, books are better .... and once in a while the series is. But with this one, I get tons of enjoyment out of both. The series is extremely faithful to the books, but each venue provides its own type of enjoyment. As much as I'm looking forward to seeing the TV show if it comes back I agree with books being better. Not only the peacefulness of reading, it allows our own imaginations to visit/interpret the places through his descriptions. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks

Connie, there's no reason you can't have both a DVR and a DVD player, is there? I have both and get a lot of use out of both of them. I don't have Netflix, Hulu, or any of those streaming services due to slow internet speeds in my area, but I have a good-size collection of movies and old TV shows on DVD, enough to keep me occupied when there's nothing of interest on my satellite TV service. (250+ channels and often nothing to watch!) Oh, and I still have a VCR, because some of my collection is on VHS tape. Oh yes, I still have my old VCR too -- Tapes give a better quality picture than DVDs, in my view ... That being said, I don't have Blue-Ray or HD though

With my library, I can always put in a request for an item they don't have on their shelves and they will get it on loan from another library. So I'm hoping to start on these soon!
