I can't go see it. I just cant. As I deal with two elderly dogs, both of them with serious health issues, I just can't put myself through the movie. Besides, I'm not one who likes to cry in public.

Totally understood, Cheri, TOTALLY
But since I'm not "there" just this moment, will try to go see it over the weekend...
I'm sure the whole audience will be Bawling, so I won't feel shy about SOBBING.
I am generally OK with crying at a movie. When Paul and I went to see Horse Whisperer, it really hit me hard when they showed the horse standing there in the creek after almost getting hit by the truck... Paul even asked if I wanted to go home, that's how hard I was crying. Incidentally, I named our cat Gulliver after the horse that did get hit by the truck in that movie....
I still haven't managed to get to this movie though- with Toni coming up on 15, I think it may end up being another Horse Whisperer moment...

I haven't been able to schedule it into my calendar yet either -- But I did buy the BOOK last week while on vacation
Agreed, Connie. There are sob out loud moments, but there is underlying meaning in the book that transcends the sadness. I hope they are able to convey that in the movie as well.

I hope so, too. The movie reviews aren't good at all. Too bad, because the book is terrific.
Google Books said "The New York Times bestselling novel from Garth Stein—a heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope—a captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life . . . as only a dog could tell it."
Yep ... I sure do agree with this!
I'm glad Candi got the book, now that I've read the bad movie reviews ... I'd MUCH rather experience the excellent book first than have the story ruined for me.
At least we got to talk about and maybe read or re-read a wonderful book.
Okay, based on what I'm reading here, I probably will make it a point to read the book. It's sort of been in the back of my mind for a long time, but I think I will actually put it on my reading list.
