Awesome news!
Invest in some grooming tools! Those coats are as bad as sheepdog coats!
Sounds like a smart pup!
Learning from a super smart man!
Just a wonder, how many times have you been tripped over lol.
I still have all my grooming tools from the 1980s when I had Kerry Blue terriers, among other dogs. He's also a monster with his mouth. fortunately he's soft mouthed...most of the time anyway. Any of the half dozen different terriers I've owned through the years would have bled me by now for sure.
At this age, 8wks this past Wednesday, there are no corrections. I just redirect for the biting. He has a very good recall without distractions and I'll start on sit and down in the next few days.
Oh boy, I love the "royal" Standard Poodles, as we used to call those BIG ones back in the day -- My first club trainer in the early 60s had a pair of males on whom he put every Obedience Title known to man ("Coco" who was that color, and "Caesar" who was cream) ... He kept their coats trimmed short in the "kennel clip" and on top of being GENIUSES they were also Very Serious in guarding his family & property (they weren't yappers or sharp or "biters", just Protective).
I'd love to have one and SILVER is my FAVE color, but it can be hard to predict in a baby pup, as you already know -- I look forward to following Ami's progress as he introduces you to the wonderful world of working Poodles ... They're such GREAT water retrievers that I hope you have a LAKE nearby and maybe one of those ball-pitching machines, LOL
Obedience will be on our to do list along with herding and possibly tracking. Whatever my old body can get done with him. Ami show some sign of the silver coat in particular on the muzzle and also showing in the forehead. Needs a trim badly but I'm taking my time getting him used to the grooming table. Nine weeks old today and his recall is super. All marker training of course including getting used to t eh grooming table. Nice retrieve which is one of my "must have" with any puppy. No sound issues at all. Today in my area the fireworks are starting heavy and he doesn't seem to be bothered at all. Barks to come in from outside. Barks to go out to poop but still keeping our eyes on him to pee. I'm old so I understand that completely.

I bet a serious Working Poodle could BEAT the PANTS off all those Labs & Goldies in DOCK DIVING And it would be a Competition that Ami would truly LOVE, since they're bred for Water Retrieving -- Kind of like Whippets and Lure Coursing: no training required ... slip 'em when the field master yells "Tally Ho" and your hound does it all by INSTINCT first time & every time !!! I know you're gonna have a BLAST with Ami in Everything you do together, Bob.
