Don,
Those commands are for making sure the dog understands the collar and why he is receiving the correction. I think a big problem with the e collar is that people will just put it on and use it immediately as a strong correction. If you teach the dog that he can turn off the stim from the collar you'll have less stress and a more rapid learning curve.
Ok Chad give me a little e-collar 101 I thought the use of the E-collar was sorta negative responce gets you shocked, training and priase the positive responce. So its like if I wanted him to go from informal heel to a heel I give the command and never shock him, if he breaks the heel (not look away) but head out front or lags behind shock him. Never use it demostrate a positive action that you want. Only for negative reaction to a known command. Right?
I would not hit him/shock him to send him away, I'd give his hand signal or verbal command, then if I wanted to recall him from say 40 yards out and he is looking the other way or ignoring the command I'd shock him. Right?
Always for a negative responce, of a known command. Right? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
