At present I have the address for the Military working Dog Units serving in OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. I've sent a e-mail to the Kennel Master for the MWD Unit in Iraq.

I have contacted Marine Corps Combat Development Command (Quantico) and left a message. I expect a return call shortly, and will determine who's in charge of what units, and where supplies can be sent.

I would be happy to go to the store, etc. I suggest that any who care to participate begin by making recommendations about what should be sent. I will start a separate topic as the "list". I also think that we get as much of it as possible from Ed's catalog. What we can't get there, I'll go to the store for. (I will also ask the MWD handler about specific requests, if any.)

I was also thinking something along the lines of spending a few hours at Petco/Petsmart/McDoggy or whatever, telling folks what we're doing and gathering donations. I will then buy whatever finances will allow, and package it with a note from all of us here on the board. You may also want to consider giving addresses/etc, to give and receive letters. Trust me, there's no time like mail time.

( NOTE : don't just post your address on the board. If you want to send or receive mail to MWD guys who get the care package, PM me with your information. I will respond with an address you can send your letter to.)

For security reasons, I will not forward any packages that are not in sealed factory packaging, or do not come directly from Ed's place of business.

I think it's outstanding that you folks are getting involved here. With a little organization we can make sure that those dogs and their handlers won't have to do without.

I have the address for the Units seving in Afganistan.

I'm still trying to get address's so it may take a day or so depending on their deployment.

Iain Pedden is working on getting the necessary info for the USMC MWD Units. I think the Members of the Leerburg Discussion Board can make their deployment a little better.
