Did you ever offer them salt and pepper? I thought I had blocked her out of my mail list but I forgot when they kicked me out of their group for asking questions they must of thought they would keep taunting me by sending me this crap about prey drive which I must say is way off. I have read many articles on prey drive and the only ones that make sense are those that were on this site and that Ed put out. I am going to have to bump up my security to stop this flood of stupid mail from comming in. I will share this, now this woman is talking about going into the protection dog biz! Good God where do these people come from. Be prepared for when it does not work for her she will me slamming GSD's next! If at anytime anyone would like to know who this person is please PM me. I am not as rude as she to plaster her name openly on a site as she did with mine saying I was flaming and rude! The only thing I did was ask questions and wanted concrete proof as to where her information came from. SHAME ON ME!
Your "behaviourist" lady sounds like someone who bred them but never really "got" what huskies were about. If your are talking sled dogs - you have to lift, harness, bootie, check feet, inspect, palpate etc. when you are working with them and alot of this is done with your face mere inches from the pointy end of the dog - not something you would want to do if they had the "uncertain" temperment that she says they have! As for having a prey drive that can only be controlled by an e-collar ....I can manage to rope a whole bunch of huskies together and get down the trail - are my dogs interested in the deer or moose that crosses the trail in front of them? you bet but they stay on the trail because they are trained to. If that ladies dogs had "uncertain" temperments and "uncontrollable" prey drives it was because she never selected or bred them(or trained them) to be otherwise. I'm pretty sure she was not using correct working temperment(for sled dogs) as a selection criteria for her dogs.
