I have seen a lot of wolf hybreds, and if your animal was highly trainable it probably wasn't a hy-bred. I know I never saw the animal, but I do know a bit about hybreds. A friend of mine bred hy-breds, real ones. None of them was ever very trainable, the higher percentage of wolf the worse it was. These animals were primarily bred for use in the movies. They also had a full blood timber wolf, and he wasn't trainable at all. If they took it out of it's kennel it had to be on a lead.
Most of the dogs I have seen listed as hybreeds were not. They were dogs that kind of looked like wolves. There was a regesitry here that regestered "hybreeds". They made the determination of hybreed status by looking at the dog, if it looked a bit "wolfy" they regestered it as a hybreed. They were still dogs. Ed is right on this one straight down the line!!!

Richard,This dog was bred by a friend of mine who had a private collection of five wolves, more like domestic animals than wild ones,he used a wolf female with a GSD male and this resulted in six pups, one died and the other five all had a stable temperament.
In fairness I do believe that the wolves were second generation and had probably lost most of their natural instinct as they were very used to human company.
Do I agree with creating hybrids, probably not and the exercise was not repeated by him.
There is a species of dog/wolf bred in Holland that are decended from a pure wolf and a GSD and I believe these are now a recognised breed in Europe.
