The two best working Doberman I have ever seen, or will ever see were. . .
ZEUS AND APOLLO,
Magnum P.I.
Did anybody see the episode where the lads saved T.C. from French Terrorists bent on blowing his Helo out of the sky. . . AMAZING ANIMALS. Higgy Babby had some fine dogs.

The "lads" did kick ass. How about that movie where the six dobes are trained to rob a bank!(hee hee) I think it was called "the Doberman gang" or something like that? The sequal is "The Daring Dobermans" I think. These came out in the early 70's and I haven't seen em in a while but if you like dobes, try to find these flicks.

Hello!
If you are intrested in working dobermanns take a look at the website of blitzkrieger kennels(canadian kennel), they have a lot of information about the best workinglines from germany. Some people say that the real workingability of this bred is gone, becuse to much breeding for show and not work, thats true for all the american and most of the german showlines, but there is also real workinglines of dobermanns that is just as good as any other breed. Most of the the workingbreeders use bloodlines from the most famous workingdobe kennel in germany, the ellendonk kennel. This kennel during the 1960 to the late 1970, produced a lot of good dobes that v´d in schutzundtrails and big competitions many times, the most famous was bingo von ellendonk who is the only dobermann who got 300 points in schutzhund. The reason why you don´t see many dobes in service work and in the big competitions is simple, in germany about 46000 sheperds are born each year, but only about 1300 dobes, and many of these are from showlines, also the best dobes are often keept by the breeders themselves, for improving the breed and therefore only for personal use. I know about 10 dobes who works as policedogs in germany. In 97 a dobe came on the 9th place in IDM(german police dog trails),I think bernard flink came 10th. I hope knowledgeable breeders will continue to breed good dobes, people who know what drives is needed for policework and serious protectionwork, this is especially important in the dobermann breed becuse the genetic-pool of working dobes is not big. Fightdrive, courage and solid nerves should be the goal of true workingdog breeders, and not only breed to dogs which may be great sportdogs, but who doesn´t have what it takes to do servicework. Von forell kennel in australia seems to be a good kennel for workingdobes, they seems to have the knowledege that is needed for true workingdog breeders. Another good keenel of working dobes is doberwache in finland, I´dont know if they still breed dobes but I´ve seen some of their dogs on tape, and they looked good. This breeder was a german policedog handler for 20 years, and was a trainer for policedog handlers at the policedog school in stukenbrok from 1993-1999, until he moved to finland. From just a few litters they have produced 3 policedogs and a dog which is trained for terrorist-apprehension, plus some good schdogs. The blitzkrieger kennels website has a lot of info about working dobes, also look at the danish kennel jotunheims website, they have a great history archive of pictures of dobes dating back to 1890, and also some more intresting information about the breed. If you look at a website called Danikas dobermanns, you could read a intresting article about a breeder of working dobes, Mannfred Lerner from the dobermann kennel von bayern. Manfred has trained protection dogs for the german airforce since 1977, and has some intresting things to say if you are into working dobes.
Regards

Another place to look for information on working Dobes is the United Doberman Club. The UDC website also lists breeders of working Dobes.
Being the owner of a rescue Dobe who just discovered personal protection training and trials last year, I would advise anyone with a high drive Dobe to give the working sports a try. (Carefully select your trainers.) Not only is it great fun, it will introduce non-breeding stock owners to real working dogs. Discovering the control and beauty that are inherent in these guys has been an awsome experience. Those of us who stumble upon good dogs through sport will definitely support working dog breeders when looking for our next dogs.

It's been a long time but I think I liked The Doberman gang the best. The whole movie is riddled with serious dobes from the early seventies. They show them being trained and stuff, and then they (six vicious Dobes) rob banks, no handlers needed, they just wait somewhere else for the dogs to show up with the money. Some really cool scenes.
There is plenty of other sites on the net that sell these movies, just do a search under "The Doberman Gang" and you'll bring up plenty. Here's a couple

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the dogs that were in those movies? You could describe those dogs as a lot of things, but:"The whole movie is riddled with serious dobes from the early seventies. They show them being trained and stuff, and then they (six vicious Dobes)..." would not be on the list. None of them were bite trained beyond a very gentle grab on an arm, one of them had removable false teeth, and during those "vicious attacks" the dogs didn't even bark and the faces were made in response to a hand signal (the barking was dubbed in later).
Oh yeah, they were all clicker trained for their behaviors!!
