It sure would be a boring world out there if we all agreed on everything and VanCamp would have no reason to be rude.
I've been around a few Dobies who were exceptionally intelligent but I've also been around a few who had a screw loose in the brain department. All depends upon their breeding, how they are raised and educated as with any breed of dog.

I like Doberman, they are good dogs. I have only see two, in the flesh, that were worth a snot. A retired PSD in Texas and a PPD here in P-Town. Sweet dogs, just flippin' you jokers some sh..........
I'd like to see the working lines make a big comeback here in the US. They are very impressive little monsters. I kinda like the red ones, anybody got a problem with them. I have heard that there are colors that are bad news, just like the white GSD. (Don't anybody tell Ed I said White GSD on his board! OK?)
Just kidding big guy.
Hey one more question. Are the dogs coming out of Germany now uncropped, tail and all? I know they passed some law, but I didn't pay much attention to it. (GSDs don't need those cosmetics to make them look cool. )

Does anyone know of any PSD Dobes left out there? I klnow of one or two here or there, but not many. I think if the breed had it, they would still be used. They are plenty agile, strong and have the physical ability...but...where has the work gone? Yes I know a FEW, but a FEW do not make it fact. I always find it funny how some breeds even fall into disfavor in their own country. How many PSP or Germany PSDs do we know of? I'm sure someone will find me an example or two, but if the breed as a whole had it, wouldn't you think they would still be used in their own country? I'm not knocking the breed. It's breeders and not a breed that is too fault. It would be no different if the Germans stopped driving Mercedes. If they did wouldn't you wonder why you would want one?

I don't know where the workign aspect went in the Dobie, there is a guy in another local club here that has a red one that is Sch3 I personally think he is a bit slow because of his massive size, I watched him trial a couple of weeks ago he scored like 87-90-86 all around, by a SV judge.. now this guy also had a puppy prob 6-7 mo that was very people shy and head shy... kinda skiddish if you ask me....he reminded me of the UPS guy on Mad TV so I really think it's true that the breed has taken a severe hit over the years and it would be nice to see a comeback, because they look very cool, I call em Devil Dogs hehehe

Hello!
As a breed the dobe don´t have what it takes to do servicework anymore, but it´s the same whit the giants and rotts to, to few kennels who breeds for true workingability, which is to bad. If you don´t seen any good dobes in northamerica in sport or servicework, no wonder, I have seen less than 5 kennels who have breeds dobes from true workinglines. It´s only persons who really like the breed who is going to use it for sport or servicework, becuse most people could probably find a good mal or GSD somewhere in a nearby place for less money. If you know what you look for you could get a dobe whit great workinability, both for sport and servicework. There is a kennel in U.S who breeds PSP-certified dobermanns, I don´t know nothing about this breeder, but you can look at his website at,
http://www.dobermannvonhessian.homestead.com/dobermannvonhessian.html
In germany I know about 10 dobes doing policework, some really good dobes, one placing 9th on IDM in 97, and one who did very well on the PSPtest. In SCH there are several dobes in germany who v´d many times in protection, some of them high in trail whith mals and GSDs from good lines. Tail and ear docking is against the law in germany nowadays as it is in several other european countries. The awesome apperance of a docked dobe(german and dutch lines, not the silly american lines) are also a curse for this breed, to many who breeds for looks instead of strong character. What I would like to see in the dobermann- breed are more serious breeders, who will maintain the workingability of this breed. There are some very good breeders in europe, a few in the U.S, but we need more people intressted in working dobes if this breed will survive in the future as a workingdog I think.
Regards
