Earthdog, you are correct.
Dobe King, I hate to break it to you, but you just bought a nice puppy mill dog. There is no respectable breeder that breeds "king" dobermans. They are not within breed standard and sure as Heck don't come from stable working lines. If your dog is "lighting up" on people at this age you have a long hard road ahead with this dog.
I have seen ad's for these "king dobermans" in the back of Dog World. We all know that only really good breeders are allowed to advertize their dogs there

Funny thing, would you believe I missed that whole "King" thing? I saw it in the screen name but I missed the whole dog thing.
While you are all correct on how you feel, lets see if King Dobie will respond. I feel that we should give newcomers the benefit of the doubt. This may be someone who was mis-led, and has little dog experience and by scaring them away we could be missing an opportunity to educate someone before someone gets mauled by the dog. While I totally agree and understand where everyone is coming from and I tend to expect the worst, lets see if King Dobie will clarify exactly what he or she meant, and give us a chance to give advice on how to work with the dog and save someone from God forbid getting mauled.

Quite right. And even more so with dobermanns. While many dobes seem to react to the slightest thing, I've realised that truly confident dobemanns are almost calm dogs. It's amazing how rare it is to find, but the dogs that display friendliness as puppies (ie those unafraid to assess and interact with their surroundings) that are most likely to develop that confidence. And confidence + drives + appropriate training = good protection dog. Or nearly any kind of dog for that matter.
One little incident that brought it home for me was They had a 3 year old dobermann who was friendly but kinda nervy and she'd lunged at a neighbour's child once (out of protectiveness they stoutly claimed). They'd been robbed four times though. We placed a 10-month old happy-go-lucky dobe who loved everything and everyone with them. 2 months later, they reported that their new dog had cornered a would-be thief -- the barking had woken them up. Once they had subdued the miscreant, their older dog came out of hiding and bravely tried to bite the tied-up man.
Searching the woolly recesses of my mind, I believe that there are people flogging oversized Dobermans as 'King' dobes. I hope King is just your dog's name. Anyway from what I've seen of them, dobes are pretty much as tall as they're going to get by 12 months.
Just my 1.38p,
Dei.

King dobie
If you think these people are hard, you haven't met Vancamp yet. I keep looking over my shoulder waiting for that first bite. It may hurt but I know I will learn something."If you make a mistake with a strong civil dog,You will get bit".

KingDobe, the term "king" refers to the fact that you have a dog that was bred for extreme size. While there is usually some size variation within a breed and given sex, those who breed for extremes either large or small are only perpetuating many of the different health problems associated with such an agenda. I'm not saying your dog is or will be unhealthy, just explaining the terminology as I understand it.
The same idea is happening with poodles. Toys can become "teacups" (super small) and standards can become "royal standards" (super large). With an ethical breeder this type of terminology does not exist. And they breed for the "mean" not the "extreme".

lol.. i didn't think i'd really get the response i got.. but yes my mistake, i over exagerated the case, maybe i should of took the time to read what i what i wrote.. i bought my doberman for protection reason, he is the 5th generation dog, i met the parents cousins and even grandfather that was 13years old that stood 33inches at the shoulders, i had a dobie when i was 15 my brother had 2 back in the seventy's that were protection trained, i love the dogs, he is very gentle but wheb given the command to get him, he will without question, there has been times whenb i had him on a fifty foot lead, and i was not paying attention of my surroundings, he he went after a passerby, but with one quick yell, of STAY he stoped him his tracks... i got him at 7 and a half weeks and i train him 3 times a day, but maybe i did not choose my words to carefully, once he is introduced to you he wont stop licking your face... but when he needs to protect i can count on him... so dont get upset, my mistake, i was curious more than anything to know the sizes of everyones dog, i know the one i had 25-1/2 inches tall and it was a female... so back to the original question, whats the height and weight of your dog, not if he comes from champion lines, or any of that nonsense.... regarless of his (quote) lines, your affection will be the same, unless you egotistic.. hope i didn't start another out break..lol
