OK, I guess if the media is blowing the whole thing out of proportion that is one thing, but you sure didn't make that clear. Just as soon as you got a little heat the story changed.

If you go back and read, I didn't call YOU an a-hole I called the dobermann owner an a-hole. You may very well be an a-hole, but I didn't say so.
Fact, if the dog got out it wasn't properly contained.

Dober, what do you want, to see the kid in a coma? The dog got loose and bit the kid, 12 stitches is a lot for a dog bite. I had to have 15 in the arm for a dog bite and it was pretty severe. I didn't lay in bed for a week after that either.... So he was running around... he is a five year old and last time I checked they did that.
You mention the helmet not being scratched, well... those are pretty tough and I doubt the dog could get its teeth around the helmet to begin with....
A dog that gets out and bites a kid because it is on a bike is not right in the head. If I had a kid and lived in that neighborhood I would be uncomfortable. If a dog gets loose once, it usually happens again... who is next?

Rickey, it varies from town to town, state to state, so it is highly unlikely you will get an answer.

Almost any breed in the hands of a jerk is a dangerous dog.

Although you may very well be an a** hole the camp man never did refer to you in this manner and the simple fact that you cannot read the words as they are presented in the thread do not reflect on your new tag.
Kids, adults and the elderly do not need stupid people allowing their dogs running loose and giving my industry a worse name then it already has.
As for you backyard assumption that the media blew it all out of proportion. Take a peek at how you wrote your bi lines.
I am involved with the media. Do not be so fast to shoot us messengers.

Let me give you a lesson here Mr. Guard On
I personally have been nipped where my finger nail was busted off my thumb.
It really was not much of a bit and did not bleed all that bad.
I came into contact with a strep infection that entered my body from the impact point and it caused me to develope a disease called endocarditis. I ended up with two strokes and open heart surgery to repair all the damage. I lost a major chunk of my eyesight in both eyes and took two years after the two months in hospital to learn to walk again.
Let me repeat your own words here.

No, Van Camp never did call you an a**hole.
BUT I AM, YOUR AN A**HOLE

While I agree with the content of your post Mr Cudahy, please refrain from using foul language on the board. Ed has asked that we not use it here.

i'd like to point out that the dog probaly bit the kid out of prey drive. The first time I taught my old dog to follow me on a bike, he jumped up and bite my calf really hard, and it was a dobe.
In my opion there are three dogs that really scare people. Dobes, Rotts, and pits. If anyone of these three dogs does something then the media has a field day. I think dobeonguard is just frustrated by the same old poop. They seem to forget other dogs can be dangerous. My friends cousin was killed by a lab (not a chesapeke either).
As far as being contained properly I don't think there is a single person thats had a dog that hasn't slipped out once. The article never said that the dog was a problem before, so it was the first time the dog has gotten out. MostSchH dog people i have met live in a more rural setting, so if the dog got out there it wouldn't be as big of a deal (unless it chased animals in Oregon, then its dead).
Jerry, I feel really bad for you, but you're like .0001% of dog bite victims. The same thing could have happened to you if you stepped on a nail.
I like end saying I don't condone the dog bite but I don't think any of use will no what really happened, so lets not be to hasty to make judgement.

Wizmz pretty much summed it all up. I hope you all don't think your perfect. Don't tell me your dog has never slipped away, or didn't respond right away to a command. It happens to the best of us. They are animals!! I am pretty much the biggest responsible dog owner advocate you would ever meet. I take every precaution possible. I am sorry for my poor choice of words. And Jerry Cudahy, that comment was not warranted. Sory about your luck. But thats the risk you run wen handling animals! And yes I woulod recommend not posting till your meds kick in, and maybe driving too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
