I guess to some this is a real crap list, but if I had a dog produce this in his lifetime I'd be pretty happy.
I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with people over this, but I think this is a fair representative of the breed. Ask Ed, if you as a breeder can get a handful of really good offspring from a dog or bitch over their breeding career, you're doing pretty well. Therefore the lesser dogs will generally outnumber to greater.
Again, JMO, and everyone's got one. That is a very good point that you make.
A few good sport dogs a stud does not make. I wanna see a preponderance of progeny that are capable of serious service work AND top level sport.
Nessel may have some good dogs out there, but he is not a GREAT stud dog. Come on here. . .
(I might be happy with it to if he were mine, but doesn't make him GREAT.)
I will offer my own GOOD stud dog. I would have to say that I have never seen a Karlo v Peko Haus son or grandson that sucked. Most are very nice dogs.
VanCamp:
I didn't know that Karlo was/is in the US. I agree, a good stud. I'll also say the Champ & Nessel are best classified as good, especially in the context of the world & history of the breed. Here are some of my all time favorites, in additiona to Bernd, Mutz, and Anderl.
Studs:
Ignaz vom Oberscholvenerweg
Caro vom Allerswald
Ingo v. Rudingen
Greif zum Lahntal
Uwe v Kirschental
Pirol v Kirschental
Condor v. Marderpfahl
Treu vom Schäferstolz
Cir z Vrtovske doliny
Bitches:
Burga vom Haus Himpel
Betty Bonsdorf
Afra Stopperburger Land
Umsa Bungalow
Karlo is a "was". Not in the US either, but I was trying to come up with a stud dog that was recent and one I consider good. Like I said, I've seen a good number of his sons and grandsons and none suck.

Here is some interesting info about who the top producers are in the BSP:go down the page to prominent sires and dams.... http://stramm.ca/westerode/bsp/bsp.htm
Does anybody know of any good Karlo sons or grandsons here in the US? I know that Ed used Rambo, a Karlo son, and he describes Rambo as one of the best studs he has used. sadly he had to give Rambo away for free because he was sterile. i would like to know of some dogs with good Peko Haus blood in them.
I'm a Malinois person, but have been in the sport for awhile now. Being in Schutzhund and dedicated, it's hard no to learn about GSD bloodlines. I have a Belschik von Eichen-Bruke puppy around 10mo. He is incredible, in every phase...super nerves, super drive, etc. The reason I brag on my own dog is so does everyone else who has breedings from this dog. He is a "Fero" grandson, and yes I have already seen the bias from a lot of people on these posts. But I've have seen all the good. Belschik is truly one of if TOP producers in the United States. He was in Europe, so I would believe that to be the case here too. Since all the dogs we use come from there anyway. I know many top competitors are using him as stud now in the U.S. as well as his progeny already competing here and abroad. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
