No, the average person...well what the heck is an average person again?
As far as the internet for purchasing pups, it's just like Ed says:"BUYER BEWARE"
The Net is one of the best resources for research ever, but it's just like anything else:PEOPLE CAN MAKE THINGS APPEAR MUCH DIFFERENT THAT THEY ACTUALLY ARE. Be discriminating, use 'common' sense, spend months reading, discussing etc. I found Ed's site years ago! I'd rather spend $ and time researching, than wind up with misfit animal I took responsibility for.
Originally posted by Lauren Woods: The current system isn't perfect, but could average joe dog owner (the one reading the list) really handle a Leerburg pup? I think Joe average CAN if he WANTS TO LEARN how. There are people out there that can't handle a toy poodle, but that doesn't mean they can't learn. Not to mention there will be pups that are more suited to a novice handler, and Ed selects the pups after talking with the buyer. I am betting most of his fostered females are not with pro trainers. Yep, there's joe average again.
Any breeder worth his salt with have references you can contact. Or, if you train with a group, see the dogs you like and ask about their breeding/breeder. I have bought both horses and dogs over the net sight unseen and been lucky so far.
The ratings contradict themselves - how can a dog be not within any standard, not a German Shepherd Dog - and yet be Working bloodlines, within SV-WUSV (FCI) rules?
Just for S/G, I looked up my dog's kennel. For those in the loop, need I say anything more than "Dunhill". They are listed as well. Hmmmmm..... some body ain't doin' their homework!!

Do your home work on the dogs you may be interested in a lot of people out there may buy dogs that are to much for them to handle I have seen this happen plenty of times. I like to be able to find out what the dogs are producing and I also want to visit the kennel that I am thinking about getting a pup from IF I cannot visit the kennel I will look elsewhere.
