Marc,
For me to pay top dollar for a puppy the dam would have to be a top dog. A dog that has maybe competed in LGA, BSP, or WUSV. Also she must be a dog that can work on different fields and travel well and not show any weakness. The sire a dog that does great bitework, but maybe not a high point dog. A dog that can go to strange fields with different helpers and still show strong drives. I have seen too many high dollar puppies from popular kennels not amount to much. It is such a crapshoot, your best bet is a repeat breeding of dogs you like. If the puppies work well from the first breeding, then the second litter should follow. This would be for sport dogs.
I might spend a little more for a puppy out of Haska Karthago, she seemed to produce well even when breed to different males. 1500.00 with crate and shipping included. Ha

I know of two Tiekerhook police service dogs in the US.
Orthos v Tiekerhook (deceased) was owned and handled by Greg Mominee back in the late 80's and early 90's. He was a patrol dog for Greg and competed at the USA Nat'ls in DPO. Greg spoke very highly of this dog in conversations I've had with him.
Mitzy v Tiekerhook is a bitch out of Xato vd Bosen Nachbarschaft and Byorka Tiekerhook. She is a cert patrol/narc dog owned by a friend of mine. She can be seen on Koos' site. She's awesome. She's on the small side, but has outstanding aggression and is very athletic.
I've personally seen 6 Tiekerhook dogs in SchH work and done helper work with 4 of them. They were all impressive, great aggression, full calm grips. I've never seen Bodo track, but I've seen and heard of him throwing 'natural' type trackers.
I'd try to get in touch with Molly Graf and Joe Gribben (Mitzy's owner) as they have experience with multiple dogs from this kennel.
Another note, all of the dogs I've seen were adults and brought here as adults or young adults. Koos has very skilled helpers and introduces cetain things at certain times in a dogs development, to fully develop the drive and aggression his dogs are known for. Just an observation I've made.

Hi,
I am a police officer from Holland with 10 years of experience working with policedogs(German ,Dutch and Belgian sheperds) and my father 40 years with working GSD. In my opinion Tiekerhook is one of the best working gsd breeders from Holland.
And i have seen several good, hard working dogs from that kennel not only as Shutzhund but also in the KNPV where we are training our dogs.
So i think u made a good choice buying a dog from them.
greetings,
Ab

Mark,
As Ab De Jonge said, you made an excellent choice. You'll see me on Leerburg's prior posts about Tiekerhook dogs. My PSD is out of Tiekerhooks and line bred on Fero...there is nothing wrong w/ my dog. He's a great working police dog. Yes, Bodo throws natural trackers. My PSD in a grandson of his and has picked up tracking like he was born doing it. IMO, $2000 or a bit over is a great price for what you will be getting. Not to mention, Koos backs up his dogs.

dharma, my new little girl, is out of a rick tiekerhook son. aldo bleekhof. she is just 3 mo. old but so far she is a wonderful puppy. i have not seen a thing about her that i don't like. (in consideration of her age, ofcourse) her dam is xiena getevallei, so i'm sure she draws heavily off that pedigree as well. things i have noticed in particular are her willingness and quickness in learning, physical strength, full (puppy) grip, sure footed on all surfaces (including open-back stairs, grates, etc at 9 wks) and a big deal to me........not so bonkers with prey drive. i personally, find it difficult working with a dog that is too high in prey drive. they remind me of a hyperactive kid with ADD.
if there are no dogs in heaven, then when i die i want to go where they went. ---will rogers |

I think the Tiekerhook kennel has a long history of producing good working dogs. But the direction that it is taking now is different than in it's past. Frankly - I absolutely TOTALLY agree with VC's comments. Too much linebreeding on Fero - the pedigrees are becoming a bottle neck. Some of the Fero Tiekerhook bred stuff I have seen I do not care for at all - environmental nerve issues and confidence levels have been too obvious. Have seen quite a few dogs with Nick close up or from full siblings of Nick, and just not what I am looking for.
I have a couple of dogs with Tiekerhook lines behind them, and plan on doing breedings with a grandson of Rick Tiekerhook, Ufo Guy's Hof. I have an Ufo daughter, and currently, one pup from her and an Orry son. I brought 2 in to evaluate and work with and WOW am I impressed!!! The Ufo daughter produced a super litter from all reports, and everyone who has seen the pups I brought in is very very impressed. Due to some family crisis, I had a friend take the female to play with for a few weeks, and he is so impressed iwth her, I do not think I can pry her back out of his clutches!! And this is a show line person! Who actually has another of my working line pups...These pups are 5-5 on Estera Tiekerhook, and 4-5 on Link, so I am going back to the original lines, without Fero.

I had a Tiekerhook male (by Asko v. Joufne Keyleff out of Steffi v. Tiekerhook). He died on Dec 15th. He was over 14years old. He was the best dog I ever had, but I don't know about recent Tiekerhook dogs. I am getting a male puppy (by Janoch v.d. Grube Waldecke out of Zina v.d. Sandkautschneise - litter mate sister to the great Zariza). I believe I may have a chance at a nice Schutzhund sport dog with these lines (providing everything else i.e. ME falls into place). Does someone out there have a dog with similar lines? If so, hows it working for you???

My pup has Tiekerhook dogs back 3 generations. His sire's sire is out of Ciska van Tiekerhook (bred to Troll von der bösen Nachbarschaft). Him I've heard of, but anyone heard of Ciska?

Susan Tuck,
What was your Asko x Steffi dog's name. My Ando has Asko and Steffi as well.
