Kevin
I have a young GSD . G.F. is Troll. F. is Tim vom vogelsberger sudhang. The mother comes thru Filou von der fasanerie and Dinka vom leopoldsbrunnen.
The dog is doing fine but seams as though he is going to be late in maturing. Would this be indicative of this line?

Originally posted by Kevin Sheldahl: OK, I'll post my opinions again. In regards to Troll, he has produced some really nice stuff, so has Yoschy. But, fero, who has been bred surprisingly numerous times tends to produce a larger than normal amount of environmental problems and sound sensativity. He throws thin nerves when linebred a good portion of the time. I am especially careful when I buy service dogs that are Fero grandsons and especially those linebred on Fero that the nerves and environmental issues aren't serious. I assume they will be there but they need to be low enough that they do not represent a problem. My biggest problem dogs in the GSD's have been products of Fero (father, grandfather or linebred on him)over the last few years. It always comes back to the environmental issues. Yes, they have genetic good grips, their obedience can be flashy (especially since they have a little thin nerves the obedience is flashy and even with the thin nerves their grip tends to hold up on equipment). Fero is SOOOOOO common in working pedigrees that you can hardly get away from him (though I stay away the best I can for my own dogs) so if you have him it is best through Troll (where I have seen and worked some outstanding dogs). Go beyond the sport field and look into the environmental problems and nerves before breeding on these lines. If you think this is only for police service dogs you are wrong, as these character traits when built upon will produce problems on the sport field. This nerved dogs are also much harder to live with than nice steady dogs. Well said, Kevin...
Go to kiewelworkingdogs.com - They have a Troll son, Belshick V. Eichen Bruche and many of his sons and daughters. I hear that Fero produces bad nerves, But I keep seeing many top dogs with a lot of fero in them.
There is video of several of belshicks offspring.
There all excellent dogs.
I dont know who produces what in GSD's, I have Mals.

EXCUSE ME Deanna. If you look at the site of Belshick, you will notice that their last two breedings where 3-3 on Fero( or close to it) By using Belshick, they went thru Troll. I think Kevin mentioned that if he where goig to have something from Fero, it would be best out of Troll, but would prefer to stay away from a linebreeding. 2 of my club members have dogs from this LINEBREEDING and they are 2 of the nicest GSD's I have seen in long time. I know it not a linebreeding on Troll, but the controversy seems to always be with Fero.

No need to get all p!ssy about my reply... I have a litter of Belschik pups right now, so I am more than aware of his pedigree, as well as the previous litter combos that the Kiewels have had with him... Thanks.
Didnt mean to sound Pi$$y Deana, Just trying to stay on topic. I was considering a pup from Belshick last year, but couldnt at the time.
Good luck with yours.
