don't forget that the GSDs will also bring intelligence to the Mals, on top of everything else listed above <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
i have no problem crossing GSD's with mals. it's not a new concept.
GSD's bring stability and focus and nerves and mals bring drive and energy.
there are some GSD's with drives like a mal, and there are some mals with stability like a GSD.
but if you're going to cross them, then don't try to get false papers. that will just come back to cause problems.
i believe you need five generations to breed true to create a new breed, but i'm not sure.
a lot of working breeds resent AKC recognition. so if your breeding for police/schutzhund, who cares about papers?

Police Dogs...Papers...what's that...oh yea...for an extra $10, most folks in Europe will find you papers that will say the parents of your dog are whomever you want them to be.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Just a joke...easy now.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Not really a joke... A club member I know has a dog she paid $2500 for... got him and noticed he was supposed to have a tattoo in his ear yet there was no tattoo... (sniff, sniff) Calls the guy she bought the dog from, he tattoos the dog right in front of her...
she paid $2500 for somebodys farm dog.
Do you smell what I smell? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
A lot of working terrier people will still "out cross" to another good dog(breed). Breed Worker to worker, and I gaurantee, these people know more about their dogs pedigree than most owners of "papered" dogs. I would guess it would be the same with KNVP Breeders.
Has anyone seen any third or fourth generation GSDx's? Do they perform as expected? how do they look(still pin heads?) What I would like to know is do reproduce themselves well?
