I am only looking for schutzhund specific books and because I train with a bunch of people (not a registered club ) I find that asking questions can cause arguements..
I am also looking for a good article (not a book) on why training with motivation (food or toys) works better than praise and correction alone. (I need to convince someone ).
Also - are the rules for schuzhund different in Canada vs the US Seems the GSSCC doesn't have a rule book available on-line (that part of the site is 'under construction' )
Ivan Balabanov and Karen Duet have a fine book too, called "Advanced Schutzhund." Obviously it expects that you know the fundamentals of the sport, but it's a fine book that emphasizes positive training methods. If you've ever watched Ivan compete with Django you can see some of the results
Kayce Cover has a manual "Bridge and Target Technique, Volume 1" which is fascinating reading. It contains so much useful information for handling animals, both psychologically and physically. Her web site is: http://www.synalia.com
I am qualifying my answer. This manual only gives you theory on animal behavior and methods for training which motivates your dog and gives your dog a feeling of being able to control his environment. Makes for a very motivated animal.
Advanced Schutzhund of Ivan Balabanov is a great book about Schutz. Although you need to know the basic already because this is not explained in this book, also great is the problem solving sections.
This is a great book ! One thing I couldn´t find in the book under problem solving is A problem I´m having know with my dog and that is breaking during the courage test just before she jumps to bite. I was hoping to find something on it but it is not explained as one of the problems.
Also I see that he learned most of his techniques in Belgium where he stayed for a while Andre Vandergeten :-)
