I think it would be a real test to trainers and training methods. We could really find out alot about puppy imprinting and the how much are genetics.I dont think that it would take the challenge out of it.I think all the clones would differ, in the end, just as much as all the trainers.I also dont think the dogs would never exceed the accomplishments of the original, whos to say the original reached its full potential
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
What makes everyone think the clone would be equal or better then the original. hj
You have too have the right genes to work with but the training methods and trainer would have a tremendous impact on the end product.JMO <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
That was one of my points.A dog is only as good as its trainer. If I had a Grief clone, could I go out and win the BSP with him?My point being the challenge is still there. In the end the dogs would all differ as much as the trainers differ.
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
I think many of us could do a much better job today if we had the best of 20yrs ago. We always look back and think about what we cold do with "that" dog if we had it today, with the knowledge we have now. I think, all things being equal, we would could have a much better trained dog.
that's what I was getting at in my post when I said "You can clone a dog, but that doesn't mean it will be the same dog...the genes will be the same, but the things that made the dog itself, won't be there." The dog will be there genotypically, but won't be the same phenotypically.
