Steve, anyone can do anything to you at any given time, question is . . . will it happen. In regards to being irresponsible to insurance companies, not everyone in this society can afford to use the methods you and I might use. Whose to say they will help you when the time comes, many don't. Insurance Companies should do a lot of things but they don't do. They go by their own laws. As for me, I don't have this problem but that is my suggestion to people who do. Unlike many people on this board who think this is a debate, this is not a debate board in my opinion--especially in this situation. It's an offer of suggestion. I don't give a rat quite frankly. You've been registered since July, so feel free to give advice as you see fit especially when someone needs it at the time.
I never recalled stating those methods should be used in every circumstance or in most situations. What I say is in relation to people who are not in the financial situation to do anything else. Those aren't methods I use or would necessarily use unless I couldn't do anything else.
In regards to what a lawyers can and will get, that's just all depending on what you have. I would assume anyone following my suggestion wouldn't have anything for them to get to. I'm sure with you it is different, that's why you wouldn't have this problem in the first place. You can get insured somehow I'd suspect having or doing just about anything, question is just how much money you pay. And why shouldn't you pay an insurance company for any thing, these days they seem to pay for your loss 100% of the time, right? lol
While some people are truly judgment proof, anyone with the financial ability to own, feed, care for (including medical expenses) a dog, particularly the ones we typically discuss on this board, should have the $ to purchase insurance. If you drive a car you should have (and in most states must have) insurance. IMO people who drive w/o insurance are irresponsible members of society. If you can afford to drive, you can afford insurance. If not, take a bus. Same for owning a dog.
Oh yeah, I'm not talking about being irresponsible to insurance companies, but to the person who was bitten, mauled, hit by a car, or otherwise injured due to another's negligence.
Are these standards with the insurance companies nationwide, (with individual companies) or state to state? And if that is the case, what is the most 'dog friendly' state to live in?
Worrying about most post I think is getting way off the subject. This is not a political board, or how one feels things should run in society. This is a dog board last time I checked.
That's a different issue Stan in regards to driver's insurance. Someone getting bit by a dog should be criminally accountable. Having their family sued for things that they aren't entitled to are a different matter. It's wrong and immoral and only people who usually think it is are the ones getting their money.
If you don't like what I write then ask someone to remove the post. I'm sure the editors of the board would feel concerned if the need was necessary, but you may want to check with them. Meanwhile enjoy the experience of -expressing yourself- on the net. We all know it's one of the few places you get that opportunity. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
