Great thanks William. My vet gave us some enzyme pills and they seemed to work after about 2 weeks, but the supply ran out. My dog is 1yr old. thanks again, I will try that.
Simply adding a scoop of plain low-fat yogurt (with active cultures) may provide enough "good" bacteria to help get his guts on the right track. My guys think its a treat!
I use pumpkin (canned, just not pumpkin pie filling) whenever I feed my GSD anything that may cause the runs (fish, liver, organs, etc.). I was told that can stop the runs fast.
I feed my female GSD either a can of Wellness brand canned food or hard boiled eggs for lunch, and either a pound of raw chicken necks or raw hamburger for dinner. I try to mix up the meats, sometimes I'll give her kidneys, or liver, or tripe. I also give her a small bowl of plain yogurt mixed with wheat germ for an afternoon snack. Wheat germ has a lot of vitamins.
I feed my male GSD 'Solid Gold', plus I add raw chicken liver, raw chicken gizards, and some raw chicken thighs. Plus I cook a pot of a mixture of chicken, carrots, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, a little rice, barley, buck wheat, celery: I boil for a couple of hours, take out the bones: and feed a combo of all that: he goes nuts over it.
Prior to that was feeding 'Ekanuba' dog was constanly sick
I feed my dogs raw chicken wings & necks. They also get par-cooked mince beef or lamb with cooked/mashed veggies & brown rice or Pasta.
They also get plenty of raw meaty bones.
I don't have a problem with runny dog stools or stomach upsets & their fur is really shiny & soft.
The vet asked what I bath the dogs in to get the soft coat (I don't!), I said the local river <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
No one would normally plan to fail, but plenty of us fail to plan!
I have a picky GSD, so I give her a variety. Innova is my kibble of choice and Ultimate supplement are a constant in her diet along with raw meat and wysong canned rabbit or venison. Ultimate Supplement is all natural and has live cultures in it to insure good digestion, and the outcome is small firm stool, less body odor which is really noticable after she's done playing in the rain, and a shinny healty coat. I believe in natural remedies and used them when my kids were growing up which resulted in less sick days. The most important thing is to build their immune system up.
