What is the courage test?
How long have you been involved with dogs and the sport?
Tim a courage test is a direct run toward the decoy usually he has the stick held high as the dog charges, through the stick hits, to take a bite on the decoy. This is usually done without the handler being on leash. Almost all forms of Dog sport has a version of a courage test.
I'm not quite sure but there is a courage test where the decoy runs away from the dog? Its suppositly a lot less likely to hurt the dog, while catching it. The aggressive courage test is the most popular.
Sound like English/German mix maybe a good one!
Keep training and having fun.
I've been around PPDT for about 4-5 years, I've not had a dog in a schultzhund trail.

Is that the "Escape"?
The dog is put in a down position some distance away from the decoy; the handler moves away from the dog to the empty blind. The dog, without any direction from his handler, must instantly chase down and grab the decoys sleeve after that decoy attempts to "escape" by running away.
