Remember, the average European spends a lot less hours at work the the average American. The amount of vacation time that many people get in various countries in Europe would amaze people in the U.S.
But less work also equals a lower standard of living, so I'm glad to live riiight here!
Although I wish Bernhard ( or his clone )lived here...it'd make seminars so much easier.

First he has six weeks vacation each year. He uses it for dog stuff (federal standard for vacation).
Second, he has a lot of seniority in his postition in his department alowing flexability in scheduling.
Third, when it comes to dog stuff he's a workaholic.

I have a 9 month old German Shepherd and am looking for some activities to challenge him. Can I go to just the day of tracking? If he has no training before hand should I bring him with, or just go for information and work on training afterward?

Sure, you can attend just the tracking seminar if you wish but I would recommend coming for as many days as you can.
I would bring your young dog, if for no other reason than to get him out and about on a road trip and socialization in a Schutzhund atmosphere.

I second Cindy on attending as many days as possible. If you are traveling any distance at all, the additional cost of the extra days is small compared to your travel expenses.
Bernard is one of the best teachers I have seen. He takes time to explain why.
What Bernard is teaching is a philosophy of training as much as it is the specific methods. It's not your Grandpa's yank'n'crank style. Even if you are only interested in tracking now, you will still learn much during the other sessions that you will later find useful.
I wish I had attended something like this when my pup was 8 or 9 months old. It would have saved us both a lot of detours and probably some unneeded yanking on the prong. Since I've started using Bernard's style, he is doing much better.
BTW. Stephanie needs to get a golf cart to haul all the equipment purchases up and down the hill. She just about ran her legs off last time.

Hello to Charlie and All!
I'm glad to see that all of you had a memorable experience at the October seminar (and none of you forgot my pain.) If you want to make "golf cart" donations, I won't object. LOL I think that my thighs have finally recovered.
I hope to see you all again in July! Remember to pre-register to save yourself a place.

By the end of the Oct. Flinks seminar up at Ed's, we were calling Stephanie "Iron legs" for all the times she had to go up and down Ed's looong, steep driveway.
You gotta wonder how the hell Ed makes it out of his house during the winter months. That's not a driveway, that's an expedition....
