The BSL's are designed to restrict ownership of dogs that the government view as "problem" dogs, usually pit bulls, but many working breeds are feeling the pinch also.
Jayne, in your state of New Mexico, one of the senators introduced a breed-banning bill. Incidentally, it also defined all German Shepherds as 'Dangerous Dogs'.
I think Kevin Shedahl had some discussions with people at the state house about this one.
This time, it seems destined to die in committee. That is the committee assigned to review the bill will not forward it to the full Senate for action. If it passes the Senate, it would need to also get approved in the House of Representatives. (US civics of the non-US readers. The senate is roughly comparable to a House of Lords and the House to Parliament)
Thankyou Charlie for the explanations. I did hear some rumblings Re: this bill down here but it's gone quiet. Thanks for the link will investigate further what this could mean to me & my dog..........cue for a song i think!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
