My "favorite" from that site is this:
http://www.royalair.org/yeager.htm
Dog is 20 months old and they say "This boy is producing a good high level obedience apptitude along with his deep red color..."
Not only that but a "trained x-rayed" puppy is 1500-2500 bucks. What I want to know is if these puppies are trained xray technicians or if they have xray vision

People that cross breed any dog with a wolf are totally irresponsible people. So many of these cross bred dogs, while purchased as cute puppys, grow up to be large dogs that unfortunately are not easy to handle. THey end up being abused and abandoned. We recently visited FullMoon Farms in North Carolina that rescues these poor animals and were appalled by the horror stories some of these "wolf-dogs" went thru in their short lives. Shame, shame, shame. Some people should be shot!

Hi,
In reply to ALL...........please explain the problems with these dogs, I'm new to the breed so I could ( may be I have been easily be taken advantage of .They look like beautiful dogs to my untrained eye . I feel this forum is a font of knowledge for the inexperienced who wish to know about the breed, so i would welcome ,along with others I'm sure, some teaching.
Many thanks, jayne

The problems with those dogs...ouch, this will be a long list.
First off, any time you breed for a specific trait ( in this case size ) you end up sacrificing virtually everything else in the pursuit of that particular trait. These fools wanted a giant breed - which the GSD is not - and they adversely bred for a trait that is *not* in the breed standard. And hello health problems. And temperament? Who needs it, as long as they got the size that they want?
Actually, they're breeding for *several* undesirable traits here - oversize, plush coat, incorrect color in some cases. These are *not* GSD's.
If the AKC was run correctly, these dogs wouldn't be even registerable as GSD's, but the AKC drops the ball, as always.
Look....a collie can be a beautiful dog...but it isn't a GSD. Neither are these mis-bred monsters - they should all be immediately spayed and neutered, and the owners heavily fined. But unfortunately, people are allowed to destroy a breed for their own greedy and stupid purposes.
I hope that prospective buyers for these "dogs" end up Googling this discussion before they're scammed by those idiot con artists.

Just skimming the article, this bit jumped out at me:
"Less expected is the inclusion of the
German Shepherd Dog. The exact origins of
this breed are unknown, but our results suggest
that the years spent as a military and police dog
in the presence of working dog types, such as
the Boxer, are responsible for shaping the genetic
background of this popular breed."
I'll give them enough credit that they're talking about interbreeding with boxers, etc. and not just hanging out with the wrong crowd. But I do wonder when they think that interbreeding occured, since the GSD has only been around since the late 1800's and came from herding stock.
