I haven't seen many GSD's that don't slope a little...does anyone have an opinion on whether my dog slopes severely or not? He's of German working lines...You can see it in the "stack" picture that I have of him.

I think my dog has a similar posture to yours, I don't think he has much of a slope.
My dog looks more like his Dam (I think a little less slope) when he's in a natural "im gonna get that pesky wabbit" stacking posture, I can't get him to hold still to stack him myself, but when he's just standing around casually he looks exactly like his Sire. They are what I consider average when I look at GSD's, but I'm not expert.
I can't find a photo that pictures the excessive slope I am thinking about, but I've seen GSD's that looks like the hind legs "knee" is almost gonna touch the ground when they are stacking. I would think that's "too much" slope.
Jennifer, I dont think your pup has a severly sloped back it looks pretty normal in the stack position. But wow the dam of your pup looks very masculine she looks almost like a male. How much did your pup weigh at 6mths in that picture?
My pup is still 6 months old and he weighs about 38lbs (as of 3 weeks ago anyway). Of course (this was in another post) my vet says he's way too skinny and looks like a "starvation victim". After hearing everyone's reactions on the site, I think she's on something.

Puppies should be kept thin, to reduce the chances of displasia later. If you want to put more weight on the dog when he reaches maturity, that's fine, but as a puppy he needs to be thin so his joints are not overly stressed.

Exactly. It's in my contract with my breeder as well. I have a HD guarantee on him as long as I hold up my end of the bargain by keeping him thin. I don't want to put more weight on him really at any point in time. I'm more interested in him being healthy and living a long pain free life.
I don't think my vet (old vet) knows anything about GSD's anyway.
