Well as a way of thinking about this, your dog might have been very interested in the toys, but an older dog stomped him and squashed the desire to get the toy. This is common with the second dog in most PET households. I would keep him in the house in my room in a crate and spend at least three weeks with him by himself. (pain in the butt, I know , but you asked.) This is the best way to get the bond. I would do lots of focused attention. I would during this time, give him a Kong with goo of some sort in his crate, giving him time to think it is his and his only. I would then teach the dog to "hold" a tug in his mouth using markers and really good treats. when he gets really good at this, give a slight pull. If he holds on, then mark and reward. Hopefully if there was anything there, you can get him somewhat back to realizing he can Have things in his mouth without any dog stomping on him. Really work on the bonding thing, I would keep him in the crate when not working him. I think the nipping thing, which really sucks, OUCH! is very similar to what my Mal used to do. Hopefully he can get this tug thing down so you can get him to grab that instead. I like when people ask about the little bruises all over my chest <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> NOT!
