I tried it and a prong on myself too. I imagine many people have! ...Yep and then a few years later I got a dog ... LOL ....
Might as well --- since you had the equipment anyway!

Hey Susan, i've got the dogtra 1500 2 dog model, and if you put that on your neck (snug) on 40 it'll shock the crap outta you, lol. My 20 yr old tough guy nephew will attest to that, man i never seen anyone sober walk or talk like that, then again, he didn't figure out the "who can hit the easiest" game until he was 12, ,

LOL You crack me up. I believe I'll take your word on the level 40! How many times did you need to "correct" the 20yr old?!? I bet if you had used a choke chain, he might never have got the message.

I really wouldn't do anything to the dog that I thought was too cruel for my children: Would you?
Yes. Dogs are animals and children are 'technically' are not . As my daughter thru up all over the living room floor this morning, the thought occurred to me that if she was crated, the mess would be easier to clean up
Mike and Al, maybe you can get some video's of the human shock collar video's and get a collection started. Ed already posted a kid shocking himself with one. I saw an episode on Jackass where the guys were taking turns shocking the fat kid He was screaming in a rage and ready to beat everyone up. The shock collar hurts by the looks of it. Is human shocking the new trend, for kicks and punishment? lol

I wondered how that would go down.
First, my point is that E-collars and crates and leashes are not cruel when properly used; or we would not use them on our dogs. I guarantee, that if I thought that using them on my kids was necessary for their proper upbringing, I would use them. However, children being smarter animals than dogs and capable of greater feats of communication (sometimes anyway), other disciplinary and training techniques work better.
All that said, I fail to see much difference between a "time out" and a crate, or grounding and a leash, or a smack on the butt and an E-collar stim. They are just different methods tailored to modify the behaviour of the particular animal undergoing training.
Kids, and all humans, are not animals? I must say that the available evidence seems to indicate otherwise.

Excellent analogy - and so true!

You wouldn't put your kids on a leash, wouldn't put them in a crate, yada yada !!
When my little sis was a toddler we put her in a harness and leash to keep track of her. It was great! I occasionally see parents who have toddlers on leashes and I thank them for being so responsible. If the kid is a wanderer, the parents are distracted, or the kid does not listen, why not?

Yeah my brother had a leash for my nephew too, now he's moderately trained off leash but still likes to run off in stores n hide in the next aisle. I always see similarities between child behavior and dog behavior, other than species and amount of hair, they are actually very similar in alot of ways, the only thing is that my dog doesn't cry n whine when he doesn't get a toy at the store or get cranky before bed time.
