Glenn, that's just me, but that's about what I was doing when I got my Mal at 4 months. This is my super very humble opinion, but I don't think having very short training sessions for fun as a game for treats and toys and to work on groundwork type things at this age is going to break his spirit. Teaching the basics of down to a 15 week old pup is much easier than a 15 month old, even if they don't quite have the attention span to stay longer than a second or two. And I am very jealous you have not had any accidents. I watched mine like a hawk and we still had a number of them at first.

Mea culpa. In my comments I kept noting 15 mos. as the age of your dog, instead of 15 weeks.
I actually was responding in the context of 15 weeks but in so far as I seem unable to master time concepts, please feel free to ignore, dismiss, roll your eyes, eschew, or whatever you feel appropriate in re my comments.
It is hot in CNY. Thats my story and I'm stick'n to it.
I found a homemade dog treat receipe on this forum a while ago and my dog loves them. I don't know how to copy the link to the thread but if you use the search function for "Marylene's dog brownies" you should find the recipe. If you can't, feel free to PM me and I'll send get you the receipe. Hope that helps. Good luck.
update to my last post. If you jump to the "Using FOOD to Obedience train Puppies and Adult Dogs" section at the bottom of this page and look on the first page in the treats for training thread you will find the receipe for the treats I posted about.
