it may be that trevor's dog doesn't like chicken. or it could be that the brand of chicken he is feeding has been soaked in brine and other additives. my dog will only eat sanderson's farm chickens for that reason. if you put even a little piece of some other brand of chicken in a big bowl of food he would otherwise eat, he will turn his nose up at the whole bowl. i'm convinced this is because of the brine soak.
try another brand of chicken.
or give him turkey necks for starters. or beef ribs.
edit: btw, the refusing brands of chicken has nothing to do with natural or organic. it's how the chickens are prepared for market. the brand my dog hates the most comes from the local hutterite colony. i've visited there and they soak all the chickens in huge vats of brine.

Jan,
First and foremost I am not "confused" nor did I say ALL individuals are NOT feeding what I am feeding, I am speaking on the people I know personaly, I don't take polls on what people I don't know are feeding. And yes A LOT of people only feed chicken with veggies and so on, and NO Red meat at all.I only speak of my experiences ONLY when I reply to any post I don't involve ALL individuals. So for you to make a statement that I have some kind of diet that NO ONE ELSE is doing get your facts straight and read my last reply again.I know what's involved in Raw Diet, but if I feel confused ,well heck I know who to ask!

I thought Jan was just asking how you feed differently, since chicken and red meat doesn't sound all that unusual or different to us raw feeders...not sure why you got so defensive. I didn't read any accusations of confusion anywhere...
So...HOW DO YOU FEED DIFFERENTLY? Drop the defense; there are people who really would like to be aware of different methods.

Sorry if I'm a bit defensive, I have a dog that was supposed to come in last night from Delta Air and at this time they can't find where she is ,I've been up all night thinking about her.Again I'm sorry ,that is out of character for me ,Delta was giving me the run around all night,I thought getting on the computer would get my mind off and I guess it back fired.. But that's beside the point. My raw diet Jenni,is more red meat and eggs and salmon skin (when I can find it) than chicken with only 3 kinds of vegetables .I also supplement.I dont grind any thing and gave it at room temp. That's the way my father did it and so that is how I feed.I change it around a bit but for the most part these are the main ingredients. When I talk with my club members I'm usually the only one that is using more red meat. I hope you all have a better day than I.

Thanks for your honest reply, Angelique. I, too, would be very worried about a missing pup. Glad now that we're all on the same page.

OMG! They don't know where she is?!? She was definitely shipped??? Good luck and let us know when it's resolved.
Thanks for the clarification. I have heard of others using room temperature food, and sometimes mine is as well. I use lots of eggs and salmon oil too. I also mix meats; I think they probably get 50/50 poultry and red meats. I can't say I disagree w/less vegetables, as I tend to agree more w/the "prey" model of raw feeding. While I do feed processed veggies, I don't feed as much as some. I try to keep it to the amount that a predator would stumble across in the wild.

Oh, no. I hope this is cleared up immediately. Please let us know.
I feed salmon skin often, myself; I very much like feeding fish to my dogs, and frozen sole, etc., plus the skin from any salmon I buy and eat; I feed some lamb and buffalo, too, although almost no beef. Eggs, yes! These are all typical raw ingredients, although I think we concentrate a lot on chicken (and rabbit, etc.) with the bones that dogs can eat easily and quickly.
Not everyone feeds a lot of different produce, but I do, and a few others on this forum do too, I think.
The grinding comes in for dogs who aren't used to fresh food yet, for senior dogs with dental challenges, and for big heavy bones that I personally prefer to feed ground up. I don't think a lot of grinding goes on with most raw feeders.
Variety is a good goal for me.
