Yes raw meat, hamburger meat is fine, remember it's a dog you are feeding not a baby.I think this puppy is in good hands,it sounds like you are giving it all to this puppy.I wish you the best, but Cindy raw meat for this puppy is just fine and if you want you can mix the pup formula with baby gerber meat(for humans). It is the little ones that has just protein in it.You will see , beef , chicken. lamb, veal (iin the baby section of the grocery store). You can mix it in the puppy formula I bet your puppy will love it.And it's already like puree anyways so it mixes in the formula really nice.Try it.

Thanks, I will have to try the Gerber baby meat, she has tried a few bites of the canned dog food (which I detest but? figured it was a start) and tonight she was hopping around and playing and growling (although it really wasnt much of a growl, LOL) it was really cute to watch her try to tug at her stuffed animal, but also kinda sad in a way to know that she doesnt have any playmates her own size, I will try to get some semi desant pics from my phone tomorrow so you guys can see what she looks like, I should have taken a pic of her the day I got her, she is already starting to look different getting all plump, hee hee hee. Anywho thanks again for all of the great advice!

Okay so I know that some of you would like to see me take the pup back but as a true dog lover of any kind, breed, age, illness or whatever I can't do that, becaue I know that if I did it would end up in either another home, probable a worse home or if nothing else dead, regardless of any health problems that may arise she is a dog a puppy and should not be "thrown out" like a piece of garbage, every dog needs a loving home no matter what, so I will keep her and hope and pray for the best, I will take her to my vet probable tomorrow, I should have called today but it totally slipped my mind, I really do appreciate all of your comments and hope to continue to recieve help and support thank you all so very much

I agree with you and your sentiments on this, completely, and would do the same thing. As far as any possible heartache or expense in the future as was mentioned in a post, well, life comes with heartaches and expenses. There's no way around that. And if I had the ability to pick which heartaches come into my life, I would pick the ones that relate to dogs....cause as was mentioned in a previous thread, it's worth every tear (and dollar). She will probably be in fine health in her life, and if not, well that's life and we deal with things as they come. For the innocents that they are and everything they give us, they're worth every bit of it.
Your pup has a loving and caring owner/mom and is fortunate to have ended up with you.

Thanks everyone for all of the support, I can see a big difference in the pup from the day I got her (4 days ago) and today, she is already like a different pup, so much more livelier than she was when I got her! I will try to get some pics this afternoon thanks again

Bless you for your committment to this puppy, no matter what problems might ensue. I'm sure you are right that this little puppy life is better off in your hands than the breeders hands. Many pups like yours end up way to young in shelters or animal controls. Sending the pups back to the breeder is generally not an option, as the "breeder" is unkown anyway. (But STILL - big SHAME on this breeder while we're at it!!)
Our frisbee princess Cleopatra was adopted from the local Animal Control where of course, by law they said she was 8 weeks old. (don't blame them for that indiscretion - we wouldn't trade Cleo for anything). We took her to the vet the next day, as we have always done with new critters. The vet looked at her teeth and said....."um....MAYBE 5 weeks. MAYBE." Not quite as young as your pup, but still quite young.
Cleopatra is a beloved member of our family for over 6 years now (and from the looks of things, for many years to come). If there is one thing I remember clearly about her "babydom" it's that she was VERY mouthy with those little sharp baby teeth. In retrospect (I didn't know any better at the time), I imagine at least part of that was because she "lost" time with her mom and littermates where she would have learned through mom/playmate correction when enough was enough with the biting already. So once you are out of the woods in terms of just keeping your pup alive and getting feeding under control, that's just something to keep in mind - at least from my "one off" experience.
Best wishes to you!! Good for you being committed to this puppy's life! Please keep us posted.

Thanks everyone she seems to be doing great! Does anyone know if 3oz every 4 hrs is too much or to little? She is a boston terrier pup, weighs about 3lbs now? Just curious, that is waht I have been feeding her, I also try some warmed up canned puppy food for now until I can get to the store to get some fresh hamburger meat to mix with the milk, should I mix some of the puppy formula with the soft dog food to see if she will take it better, sometimes I can get her to take a bite or two and sometimes not, lol she is so funny she was playing with a blanket earlier and tugging at it! Thanks agian for all of the help and I do agree with you the lady shouldnt have even had the pups for sale until they were at least 8wks old but that is just me especially because of how small they are, but she is doing pretty good and i keep a close eye on her, I dont even go anywhere if I think I will be gone more than an hr lol, and I wont take her outside, not with it being so cold, anywho thanks again everyone

Okay so another couple of questions from a newbie, is there ever a time where you don't have to feed a puppy so often at night? Like right now I feed her every 4hrs day and night, but do you ever wean them to not eat so often during the night? (you know like you do human babies where they start sleeping more at night) just a thought, lol, also when do they start weaning and when are they fully weaned? Just trying to figure out a time frame here, even if it is just a guesstament, lol, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Cynthia

I believe most pups are weined fully by the time they are 6/7 weeks.Sometimes they still try to nurse pass 6 weeks if mom lets them but by 6 weeks she should be weined. As for a puppy that eats every 4 hours , it might all depend on what you are giving her , that might keep her full for a longer period of time or make her hungry often.
What are you giving her now?

Cynthia, I'm not sure about a night feeding schedule, but your vet should be able to provide you with one.
Wishing you continuing good luck with the pup!

I just did a quick google & came up with this. It's not about boston's, but should still give you a good idea of what to feed & when. The chart's at the bottom of the page.
