Yuko, you mentioned getting more recent pics of Lear so I'm posting to you here so I don't hijack the Terminology thread (and thank you for commenting on Lear! ).
I'll work on getting videos of him - don't have a video camera (I know, I'm a dinosaur), but my digital cam takes video, hopefully well enough to put on photobucket. He's going to start doing bite work with a professional trainer, maybe I can get some of video of that.
Here's the url: http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n129/metalasi/Lear%20Van%20Den%20Heuvel/
The thumbnails are too small so maybe you want to see the pics as a slideshow. They're nice and big. The 3 pics of him standing aren't that great, I wasn't at eye level with him and the camera totally washed out his tongue in 2 of them. So look close, there is a tongue in 2 of the pics
Sarah, my picture? Huh, what? I didn't hear you! Well, ok, I did promise Ed so I can stay in compliance with his rules. So it will be soon forthcoming. And yes, he grew into his ears
I sure want to work on his GSD stance, specifically for picture posing. Whenever he stands a little more stretched out, I never have my camera, and he doesn't like me "propping" him into it. Even if I had my camera the pose is so short-lived that there wouldn't be time to turn it on.
Judy, his sire is beautiful, isn't he? When Lear is being purposely beautiful and noble looking, or gets that sideways look with his head, I call him Son of Cak They know when they're gorgeous. Especially when I tell him "you're gorgeous" in a special voice, he gets all proud
And Mike, I just found a good protection dog trainer for him, just met with him 2 days ago. He did an evaluation on Lear with a rag in my front yard. He was (gotta brag a little) very impressed, said he hadn't seen that kind of drive in the last 20 or so GSDs he's worked with. He owns a Malinois, picture painted on the tailgate of his truck. I was impressed with the guy, he knew what he was doing (and I knew that from watching the Building Drive and Focus DVD - thank you ED FRAWLEY). I also liked what he said about training (again, thank you Ed Frawley and others on this forum). Although it was hard to concentrate a lot cause it was a breezy day and Lear was trying to chase every tiny leaf that blew around.
Oh wow, he went from being a goofy little fuzzball to a stunning young dog
Now THAT's what a shepherd is supposed to look like. He's perfect Sandy, just perfect. No wonder you're so proud of him and can't stop talking about him, heehee.
I actually really love those standing photos of him. They remind me of the old-style monochromatic portrait photographs. Lear looks so noble
Thanks for pointing out his tongue - I see it now!
As for the video camera, yeah, I'm a dinosaur too. I only have my digi cam. Have no clue how to edit videos so I just shove them onto YouTube and hope they work
Beautiful shots, just make sure you keep posting pics of him. Don't get lazy on us now
