(And somehow I don't see my own dogs ever needing teeth cleaning of any kind. As I posted on another thread, my 10-year-old female went from bad periodontal disease after all her years on kibble to a clean bill of oral health after just a couple of months on raw. As for my pup, I still get asked if I have his teeth bleached, lol). So cool
There's just something "off" about this pup's body chemistry. You should have seen her puppy teeth when she was kibble fed. They were as plaqued and tartared as a 6-yr-old kibble fed dogs.
I was asking my vet about it. She suggested trying to add a grain or fiber source to her diet. No luck on that. Maybe I'll try ACV... I'll stop hijacking the thread now.
Oh good (regarding the teeth brushing). I didn't think it was necessary but wanted to be sure. I'll just check off and on, make sure his teeth stay white and beautiful like they are now, with no plaque.
The quickest way I've found to clean up nasty teeth are raw pig knuckles, the shape of them gets in between all the teeth and the hard cartilage acts like a scrubber, even the rescue dogs with the skankiest teeth become pearly white after a few weeks of gnawing on knuckles.
This message is for William. I should have remembered this previously but another post here just reminded me - this is a great site for those starting out on a raw diet:
That diet helped me out a lot. As far as the RMBs it depends on what i find at a grocery store. I rotate between chicken backs and turkey necks and sometimes ground deer. I have not been feeding veggies. i know i need variety so i always ask others what they feed.
Amber and Yuko, i often ask people to PM me because a lot of times we will get off of subject on the board. Sometimes your postcan get hi-jacked by someone else and the whole subject gets away from waht you asked.
