Thanks for all the info on green tripe. It made me more determined than ever to start my dogs on it but I have had a very frustrating time. The folks at greentripe.com were very nice but when they said that it would cost over $60 to ship $30 worth of tripe from Cal. to SC, that was out of the question. Then I called Bravo and the gentleman I sopke with said they only sold large quantities wholesale. I finally found a site called hare-today.com with lots of great products. They are on my side of the world in Pa. and shipping was only $17 so I ordered my girls several rolls. Can't wait to see how they like it.

Thats a good price on shipping. Shipping always hits me hard when I buy from the internet. Hope your girls like it. I'm pretty sure they will.

Just wanted to let all you helpful folks know that I just got my tripe from Hare-Today and stinky doesn't even begin to describe it. Beef heart ain't got nothing on this stuff. I took it outside to give my dogs a taste and they were drawn to it like a magnet. Even my picky eater scarfed it down. It also attracted flies from about 4 states away and my husband threatened to divorce me if I ever fed it in the house. Anyway, my girls think they've dies and gone to heaven. Thanks, everybody!

Good for you or should I say the dogs... They'll have a huge benefit on eating the tripe and fix alot of digestive problems (don't know that you have any) but it helps in all kinds of ways.
Katie, how about you, have you got any since your last post?

Angelique, I owe you a big Thank You for being the Chief Tripe Cheerleader on the board. You were the one who got me to add it to my pup's diet and he just plain loves it. Even better, it has been so helpful when I'm adding new things to his diet...if I mix in a little with the new meat he eats it.

Anyone hear of Canine Caviar canned Venison Tripe? It says it's "cold-pressed" but don't know what that means in terms of cooked or not cooked. What does it mean? I'm wondering about it as an alternative to frozen raw tripe. I bought 4 cans locally and pup loves it, still has a bit of the stink to it but wondering if it's nutritionally equivalent to frozen raw. Here's the website with info:

You're welcome Sarah! I do a lot of reading at the library.Having 3 kids in school, I am a frequent reader there. But I read a lot of books on the way cCanids live and especially eat ,green tripe is the first thing they eat,and that is in every book you read about the way carnivores eat, and there is a reason for that! It is a fact that we get shocked at the "yukky" things they eat but they benefit from it, they really need it .And you'll see your dog not eat dirt as much and rocks and grass.Because now it is getting all the nutrients it needs(including all the other stuff rmbs', organs)If you feel "green tripe " with your hands(I know it's gross) but , you'll feel a sandy matter in it and it is the dirt that the animals eat with the grass and sometimes you'll see cows, sheeps etc..lick dirt and so it ends up in their stomach. Wolves, dogs ,foxes , coyotes, wild African dogs etc..need all of those items to set their digestion and enzymes working the right way.I hope it makes sense.
Sandy don't bother with the canned tripe, it is overly processed that it has lost all the gastric juices your dog benefits from. That is one ingredient ,remember that set the digestion process to what it is meant to do, without those enzymes and gastric juices you have simply a can of cooked meats or what ever is inside.Green tripe is not that expensive and you can give it everyday or every other day as long as through out the week it gets at least 3 servings of at least 16 oz a serving. That's the ratio of beneficial results.I don't pay a huge shipping cost from where I am Sandy, you probably would pay the same as me.Canned is a waste of money....

Thanks Angelique, I figured as much. Figured there must be something lost cause it was canned, therefore processed in some way. I can actually get the frozen tripe brand Greentripe from a local distributor (and usually do) but he's local in the sense that he's 27 miles away
But no matter, I'll continue to get the frozen stuff from him, no canned stuff then. Thanks again!
