of course the difference is the breeders were developing working traits and not flavors of the month.
Exactly...and they chose a specific breeding individual that showed a high level of desirable traits, not just breeding a dog because it happens to be a member of a certain breed.
working dogs, they say. what work do they have in mind? guarding drug deals?
i really can't think of what positive role these dogs would play as working dogs. i don't care for the neo mastiff temperament and can't imagine why anyone would want to create another breed from them.
A early neutered male is as loving, cuddly and kind as any outgoing "go with the flow" female. If the male is not neutered early and its testicles drop, it typically becomes a dog that will roam and have more of a mind of its own. This instinct tends to over power the family member calling the dog to come, it will come but hesitates or plays that come and get me game. We recommend strongly that males be neutered by a laser surgeon early, as early as 8 to 16 weeks. If your vet is not a laser surgeon. Neutering removes the possibility of the male ever entering its time of confrontation, asserting its manliness and results it a great, loving, listening dog. The neutered male dog also seems to have less separation anxiety than a female and be more open to new experiences. An early neutered, trained male is a fantastic labradoodle, 100% wonderful open and ready for anything!
What the ....? I wonder where she got her info? Sounds like a self glorified know-it-all to me. Reading her ignorance made me feel embarrassed for her. Obviously she's clueless and so are the people who buy from her.
ROFL I just read through the remainder of this thread.
There's nothing wrong with creating a new breed but it takes years and it takes intention, knowing what your goal is and writing a breed standard that reflects those goals.
I like the email idea. Should we say we are looking for a curly-coated guard dog with no personality who's dumber than a post?
People who buy designer breeds are NOT looking for working dogs, no matter what the breeder's website says. Buyers are clueless individuals who buy them because they are supposed to be good "beginner" dogs with friendly easygoing temperaments, read: Handler mistakes won't be as devastating in these dogs. These are STRICTLY PETS. I would be very surprised if there was any working ability there... other than maybe flyball or agility.
Anyway, you would HAVE to be clueless to pay TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for a mixed breed puppy out of untested parents.
My parents' neighbors purchased a shit-poo from a pet store for $500. (Good lord!)
There was a nice couple with a Golden Doodle in one of the obedience classes I took my foster dog to. I don't know what they paid for him (nor do I want to), but these nice people definitely fell into the category of "clueless first time dog owners". They didnt even use a collar because they were afraid of hurting their puppy's neck! (He wore a harness).
As a rescue worker, I shudder to see these backyard breeder's website (and that's what they are - BYB). THere are too many nice dogs being put down due to overpopulation, the last thing we need are more idiots breeding their dogs.
I am not defending designer dogs but there are a select few VERY SELECT that are used for service dogs those I am ok with but to cross breed a dog just for looks or to get it smaller IE the mini husky I think that is not moral and the idiots who breed them should be thrown in jail for animal crulity and fraud I mean if you want a pure bred american mongral go to your local animal shelter and spend 40-60$ they have enough for every one it is also cruel to breed those "toy" breeds I mean seriously what good is a dog that fits in a womans purse and uses "doggy litter" (yes they do have doggie litter that is like kitty litter) if their was even a little taco bell dog around here he would be steped on or sat on (but most likely to be a toy for the lab) toy breeds and "non service" designer dogs should not be here the only way to justify a dog breed is if it has a service to preform or if you are bettering the breed for a specific task
