Oh Richard my heart goes out to you, I know how much he meant to you.....I loved that little guy...little hush puppy.
You should go and talk to anyone that works in the market area by the park area or your home area and put your fliers there, but also talk to the people.Lots of people go to the market and if anyone knows who has the pup they will talk ..Houses too around the park area.
I wish you lots of luck and I am praying for you to find your little guy...

I was just at our club for a few minutes today, and I mentioned this. (A couple of club members read this site.)
People again emphasized to ASK KIDS in an ever-widening circle, as you put up posters and go door-to-door.
We had one member with a puppy who took off from a gate left open. The owners went door to door for days.
Long story short -- the puppy was inside a house (blocks away) whose resident said "No, we haven't seen him." They had taken him in and wanted to keep him, so they lied!
But the kids playing on the street knew where that puppy was, and when asked, they said "Oh, he's in that house."
The owner never would've gone back there after being told no.... but she did, and she said that she knew her puppy was there, and the resident made up some "Oh, THAT puppy" story and surrendered the pup.
My point is not that this is a likely scenario -- it's that kids see stuff when they're playing outside. But we often don't think to ask them when we're asking their parents.

The kid idea is a great one. You could mention that there's a reward involved for them, too. Kids have a lot more time to search than adults do, and they know all the spots.
I would like to mention that you really should have the kids ask their parents if they can help you. "Can you help me find my lost puppy" is one of the tricks that people who abduct children often use, and I wouldn't want you having to deal with a freaked out parent on top of everything else!

Richard, so very, VERY sorry to hear about your lost pup. You will both be in my thoughts for sure. Aside from offering sympathy, I don't have much to add to the list of good things to do - it sounds like you're doing all you can.
Anecdotally, I too have a friend with a little beagle mix who is CONSTANTLY running off. It's very rural here, but whenever she dissappears for more than a few hours, aside from searching, her owners leave an article of clothing at the last place they were together and she has always appeared back on her own, snuggled into the jacket or sweater. Your situation sounds much more complicated and urban, with the element of unsavory human intervention, so I would keep up with those posters and door to door searches. Stay vigilant!!!
Hope to hear good news soon...

Just to add Richard...I think asking the kids about Ruy is an excellent idea! There is an old saying in Spanish that says "drunks & kids will tell you the truth". If a kid has seen Ruy, he will tell you where he is.

I'm very sorry too that you are being tortured by this.
If it's any consolation, we were out walking our dogs last week and some friends that live around the corner were looking for their dog. There was a party going on across the street and there were a bunch of kids playing in the street. I asked one girl if she had seen the dog and she said she had seen him about 30 minutes earlier playing with a tan dog. Well I know the tan dog, he belongs to our next door neighbor. So as we continued walking our dogs I said to my husband "I wonder if he got in the backyard with Manny (next-door neighbor dog)" and decided to check when we got home. Well I forgot. Anyway, about an hour later I went in my backyard and while I was back there I heard a bark from next door that wasn't Manny's. I immediately grabbed a leash and went over there because I knew "Spike" was back there and sure enough he was. We called our friends and took him home.
The little girls input was definitely helpful. I agree - ask every kid you can and good luck. I think you're going to find him.

Everyone here gave great advice. I empathize with you. It is a persons worst nightmare. But he will find his way back to you.
