Why don't you have the option of keeping the car running?
If you read the forum you would have seen that your AC can go out at any time so lets say your AC brakes after 5 min of sitting there and then it starts blowing out hot air?
Care to guess at whats going to happen?
(don't feel bad sometimes i don't read the whole forum either :-/)

Nope, i read the entire post. Your brakes can go at any time, do you quit driving? Your dog could break a leg running, do you stop running the dogs? If someone is that concerned that the a/c is gonna go in the car, just leave the dog home. Like i said, for me, i take a dog everywhere i go, so if they gotta wait in the truck, they wait in the truck, personal choice i guess,

Agreed Al. I run the AC when it's hot also. I pop the hood open to help offset the heat in the engine compartment, crack the windows a bit and try and park in the shade. I also check very often to make sure every thing is ok.

One thing that happens when others choosing to run the vehicle is that all the cars usually wind up crammed in the same shade and if someone is running their car next to your open car, your dog gets their heat and exhaust. I have had that happen more than once (I was not present when they drove up) and was not too happy

ah ok gotcha, i do agree too. I don't like leaving my AC running with my dog (Military working dog, i don't have a pet) but a lot of times we don't have a option. I think its highly unlikely that it will happen but its still possible.

I don't have to worry too much about heat here in Alaska.. we can get hot weather, but it's never for too long. More worry on the cold of winter.
But I don't leave my dog in the car for very long alone. Maybe a minute or two to go into a gas station or store to grab milk or something simple, if it's gonna be a longer wait, someone can sit in the car with her.
Then again, I don't take her for rides with me while I'm on errands, unless it involves her going to the pet places with me.
I think my worry is more on keeping warm. But then again, I'll have that problem in my beater as well. We'll just have to bundle up.

John,
There are one or two John's out there! There's a log of John Millers out there as well! Unfortunately, I forgot what site we ordered the cooling mat from. Sorry. My fiance ordered it, and she cannot remember from what site!
