Hey Johan, these are good posts on this. Thanks. I would have thought it was just a sensitive area but never would have thought of the points you brought up. I don't know enough to know if it's good or bad, but what you said is interesting.
I think it has more to do with your personal objection. When it comes to correcting a dogs genitals then i think you need to take a step back. Now as far as on the abdominal section.. well i am not experienced enough to comment on that.
I was addressing Johans posts. He wasnt talking about the genitals. I found just the part of the dog responding to the direction interesting. My view is the same as yours, I'm not a fan of genital pain.

Well that's something I think we can all agree on.
I'm totally inexperienced handling serious dogs in bite, but is it a good idea to use a dog who becomes so involved in the bite that they won't respond to their handler and must have their GENTIALS corrected? This seems to me like a faulty dog or bad training. I assumed the goal was always controlled attacks, not outright viciousness. Anyone can buy a vicious dog that will bite the hell out of everything near it.
I'm new to it too David,so I don't know either. When I read the articles and threads about fight drive it sounds like theyre talking about my dog but then I think no that can't be. I have a lot more to learn. I am addicted to reading about it all though and not willing to dismiss what successful, highly accomplished trainers do. (Except for the genitals)

Wow, that is a dog! Belgian Ring never ceases to amaze me. I guess it goes to show that sometimes our taboos and hangups don't always carry over to training (though I honestly think more than not they do). I'd never think a dog getting zapped in the privates would come across so happy if nothing else!
